water smell

Good morning to all from Denny and Ida, We are now camping at our favorite camp ground here in eastern Iowa and we have a problem that We have never encountered. The water that is coming out of the faucets seem to have a sulfur smell to it. I checked the water coming out of the water outlet and it seems to be ok. Out of the faucets it smells like sulfur. Out of the hot water side of the faucets its even worse. We have never used a filter for the incoming water, but I`m wondering if that would help. We only use the city water inlet to our camper which is a 2015 keystone outback 296FRS. Any ideas???? Thank you, Denny and Ida

The smell may be coming from your water heater, even getting a little into the cold side. Have you flushed out your WH? Even with a newer unit, it does not take long for some water sources to go bad.

Have you completely drained your water heater lately? If not, do it, and give it a good rinse (fill and drain again). This may take care of the problem completely. But it would not hurt to follow up with drcook's suggestion too.

If there is a WalMart close to you, there will be a product on their shelves that will take care of that problem.

other stores with camping related products will have similar products and is safer than pouring in household bleach.

in essence, you need to rechlorinate the water to kill bacteria, algae etc that are growing in the tanks/lines and causing the smell
