Will be in Yuma the first of April till April 20th. Got a couple of questions.
1) Where to stay? What RV park?
2) Is there a Mobil RV tech or another group in the area that someone would recommend? Need to re-caulk rubber roof.
3)Any Suggestion where or who to get Fed.tax done.
4) Need dental work done. Any idea who to see in Algodones, Mexico?

Thanks for your help

Pick up a copy of the Yuma White Sheets. It lists many mobile repairmen. Some should still be in the area after April 1. North Idaho RV Repair (Bob Bennett) has a good following in our park. Also Hilco and Foothills RV Repair have good backers also. As far as parks, at that time you will be able to get in anywhere. Depends how many amenities and space you want and how much you want to spend. All RV parks are not equal. If coming out towards the Foothills I'd recommend staying on the south side of I-8 as on the north side, the railroad is a super busy track. We have used Drs. Camacho for 12 years. They are just to the left of the border crossing in a gray block building. Their shingle says Pediatric Dentistry, but they do everybody. It is a husband and wife and I believe their daughter is now in the practice. If I can be of more help, just PM me. WE will be here at least until April 10.

The Palms IS a beautiful RV park, but is hard to find from 32nd ave. Be sure to read the signs.....there is NO sign right at the road.

As for dentist (the one I CAN answer)....I go to Dental Betel and have for years. Friends went to her this year and are happy with their work, too. She now has a 2nd dentist helping. ๐Ÿ™‚ DENTIST If you don't go to her, be sure to find one that is there PERMANENTLY.... All are apparently good, but I almost went to one where the street guys were offering "good price".....once in and forms filled out, they were going to take me thru a back door to a totally different office. That worried me, because friends and husband were waiting for me. NOPE....

We spent the month of February at The Palms in Yuma. Really, really nice RV resort. Gated, 24 hour security, 2 pools, 2 spas, activities, grass dog park, friendly staff and guests, $33 night (monthly rate + electricity), well maintained grounds, sites are plenty big. Family RV did a residential frig install for us. David was great to work with 928-304-9672. Can't help with the other two questions. Meyer Optical in Los Algodones did glasses for the wifey. Eat at La Fonda Tortilla Factory at Charos. Visit Territorial Prison Museum and Quartermaster Colorado Crossing Museum. Skip the swap meets.

We have been thru Yuma many times but this is the first time we've spent any length of time here. Being every place is different, here is my take of what would of been nice to know before arriving.

As far as the RV fix-it guys. I was in http://www.rvconnectionparts.com/ a couple times over the last week. Seems every time I go there, RV techs buying parts to fix RV's for somebody. Many RV tech's to choose from.

I have been asked if I'm paying cash or credit card more times than I've been asked in the last 5 years for some reason. Maybe the services I'm seeking? RV wash guys, RV tech's, A/C auto garage etc. So know where to your ATM is in advance if you don't like carrying lots of cash.

Fry's on 24th usually has the best fuel prices IMO. And use your Kroger fuel points if you have any. But it is not big rig friendly if your in Class A. And buy your ice at Fry's if you need any. Walmart's ice is bad IMO, when it melts there's a scum on bottom of glass. (make sure your the park you choose has R/O water or some Yuma vets have a built in R/O system in there RV for drinking). IMO Walmart has better produce than Fry's. Several RV's also overnight there, if that's your thing (on Pacific anyways). Vacancy signs beginning to show up at different RV parks I pass. The people leaving our park have been here many months and are talking about the heat, (86 today) and taxes done and good weather back home (of course others not so lucky and just moving to cooler temps at higher elevations, if the heat bothers them).

A lot of tax prepares have signs out.

There is more RV parts and stuff at one place than I've ever seen at http://www.arizonamkt.com/ Watch what days they are open. Thursday and Fri free and less crowded than on weekends. Weekends they also charge a whole fifty cents a head to get in.:)

Many "Yuman"s" get up and get going before the chickens even think about it. Myself on the other hand, it is now 12:14 AM and I'm going to sleep.

Hope this helps

Look at them closely before you book or pay for more than a couple of days. When we drove by several of them last year, they had everyone stacked in them like cord wood. We went up to Imperial Dam and stayed there. That won't work for you though as it's a ways out of town.

While there, here's the best restaurant we found in Yuma.

They're sort of hard to find, they're located on the West side of the Picacho Mountain Medical Complex. Not overly fancy, just a nice relaxing place for a good meal.

In Yuma you need to stay east of Yuma about 8 or 10 miles. Great RV parks out there. Staying south of an near Yuma was a big mistake for us. Very low class trailer park areas and lots of aircraft noise. We drove out eastward and that is where we will be next time.

BTW we stayed 2 weeks at Desert Holiday RV Park. I wouldn't stay there again if it was a free RV park. I think they write their own evaluations. JMHO
