'95 Coachmen Santara, Trying to Bleed Tag Breaks

I have a '95 Coachmen Santara F53 and I just replaced the rubber caps on the brake cylinder on the tag (passenger side). (They were leaking.) I'm trying to bleed those brakes now (with a partner) but the fluid is only coming through intermittently...Any comments out there on why standard brake bleeding procedure may not be working properly??

Also, the brake booster pump is constantly running. I'm hearing air being constantly sucked into it as soon as the engine comes on. Shouldn't that only be running when I hit the brakes?

Thanks,
Josh

Thanks so much! Yeah, I finally caved on pumping the brake, so I just ordered a vacuum pump. I'll follow this info. And thanks again!

I have looked at all my old manuals and none have what you want. All I can tell you is if you have a vacuum source then use it to suck the old from the brake cylinder till you get clean fluid coming out.

First do the same on the Master cylinder and suck that out and put in clean and use a a small brush till you get it clean then start out with clean fluid. Then suck it thru the system to the wheel cylinder till all that is clean. You should have a very good bleed.

Just looking at what I sent you need to check the valves for sticking or rebuild if need. If you need parts then you will have to call the people who put it together. There were names and phone numbers on that pdf.

Doug, Just so you know, the additional Ford hydraulic booster didn't come into play until the 1999 model year F53 chassis. The older 460 F53 chassis didn't have it. OP has a 1995 F53.
Thanks for your web site and all the outstanding technical help you offer.

Good info! So should I be opening and closing the synchronizer valve or just leaving it open?

The tag axle should have its own vacuum buster or a synchronizing valve to regulate the pressure.
