any Lazy Daze Improvements?

Has Lazy Daze made any improvements to their coaches . IE coach doors, insulation, flooring. I live in Alaska and do camping in 30 to 40F. on the Owners forum they talk about adding insulation. In my view that should already be done. I had a new 2000 Lazy Daze and loved the floor plan. But the above was a drawback.

The above LD comments reminded me of something.

Our small Class C has the rear corner bed ... a design that Lazy Daze does not offer. The water heater and the fresh water tank reside in the volume under the corner bed.

Also under the bed are two furnace hot air duct tubes. One ends to blow onto the kitchen floor area and the other ends to blow onto the shower/toilet room floor area. In cold weather whenever the propane furnace is running, this under bed area is kept warm by these hot air tubes.

I wonder if this isn't a cold weather advantage of the classic small Class C rear corner bed floorplan?

The new Lazy Dazes use foam core insulation, thermo pane windows (.25 inch gap) and better vent caps and skylights when compared to your 2000 LD. My 07 has the thermo pane windows but not the updated insulation, vent covers and skylights. I often camp in 30 deg weather with no issues. I blow the lines and dump tanks for sub 30 deg camping. I try to avoide sub 20 deg, but got caught last Feb. when night time temps were in single digits. The inside of the rv was high 30s low 40 running just the stock electric heater in the HVAC when sleeping. It warmed right up when using the propain heater or when cooking.

I've had 2 LD, an 04 24', & 06 26' MB. Had the 26’ in weather down to 13°F, not by choice, but it happened. I had insulated under both beds, but it still was a chore for the furnace to maintain temperature. Nothing but the occupants froze up.

I wanted to buy a new 26’ (now 27') but wanted them to leave out the dinette, just leave it out, no price adjustment, but they wouldn't, take it or leave it, I left it. I've had motorhomes since 1977, now have a Foretravel, and have never seen a better plumbing, electrical, and gas installation. The one thing I would caution about is "Lake Newton". This is a low spot in the roof above the driver, both of mine came equipped with it.

Remember LDs are made in SoCal, although many folks on the west coast camp in mountain environments. The coldest we camped so far has been 26 degrees with no issues in our LD.

I've got a '98 LD, which probably has the same issues. The company is pretty slow to make any changes to their designs. I'd assume that as materials and processes improve, the construction would be a bit better now than back then. Most of the Rvs around are built pretty much the same. I've seen some bigfoot rigs that are better insulated. Probably best bet would be to add your own. Mine has a rear bed and there's no insulation between the bed and the rear storage compartments. I was going to do mine, but I'd rather move to a warmer area instead 🙂

Our 26.5 rear bath Lazy Daze had significant air leakage coming in from under the couch through the slide cutout that’s part of the top of the storage compartment.  This is a poor design for an otherwise well insulated coach (the vents and hatch are another issue).  I removed the slides on both sides, added insulation in the compartment and sealed the slots - huge improvement in temperature stability.  I also removed the mostly useless center air vent, covered the hole with aluminum and insulated space that was left-another big difference.  I’m removing the big hatch next and will seal and insulate that as well.
