Aqua Hot heating system & overall advice 2009 Monaco

Looking at a 2009 Monaco Dynasty 50k miles that has this system Iโ€™m very unfamiliar with. Opening one of the cargo doors there is a clear plastic tank and during my inspection it was not full which upset me as I told him I wanted everything full and operating when I arrived.

And this salesman is the type that, you know, the typical salesman that you can just tell once you buy it heโ€™s not going to give you the time of day and answers questions and says things that are just totally wrong and he tries to ******** his way through everything.

Heโ€™s the worst type in short and just says **** thatโ€™s not true and you know itโ€™s not true, in fact he appears to be very unfamiliar with how a class A even works. I am a first time buyer and I donโ€™t know diddly squat about them and I knew much more than he did just by my research, being very mechanical and using common sense.

Example: The 4 house batteries were these huge gray very tall 6 V. He said all the batteries were fine and havd just been changed this year. So I open the compartment and on top of these 4 gigantic batteries is a small 12 V car battery wired in!!! LMAO. So basically the batteries are all shot and everything was running off this one car battery for the demo!!!! Needless to say he will be installing new ones.

But the story is not over as he said donโ€™t worry about the engine batteries they are definitely brand new. He points to a label on top of the battery that said something like SJ18 and below it another number. He says see they are 2018. Now what gets me about this guy is I donโ€™t really think heโ€™s that stupid I just think heโ€™s trying to prey upon my ignorance when I told him Iโ€™ve never owned one before!!! I quickly pointed out that that is not a date code and thatโ€™s a model number and if you look closely there is a date code on the other side but they never punched out the numbers so who the hell knows. Iโ€™ll be getting those two new as well!

Now with all that said, that I donโ€™t trust the guy and I donโ€™t feel comfortable with him, I still love this coach but you can tell itโ€™s been worn. This dealer is just lazy like the outside was washed but itโ€™s far from clean and it definitely needs a wax job because it just doesnโ€™t shine like the other used ones I have seen. They did a quick wash and let it go at that. But Iโ€™m telling you all of this because of what he told me next about the Aqua Hot system and setting the groundwork for why I question him!

On the side of this tank there are two little tiny Phillips screws that stick out facing the door and there are small little rust marks running all the way down the tank from them. If Iโ€™m not mistaken thereโ€™s two or maybe three streaks coming from the now rusted screws. I donโ€™t even understand to be honest why there are screws in the plastic tank or what the purpose of them are and I didnโ€™t take a picture or spend a lot of time on it initially but now that Iโ€™m 99% getting ready to get it I am wondering if that indicates a real big problem? I wish I had studied it more but it was one of 100 things l glanced at at and made note to write on their list.

Being a plumber it looks like a small drizzle and nothing major at all and probably just small drops coming out of it over the years and Iโ€™m sure the easy fix is to unscrew the screw and put a rubber washer around it and screw it back in or an O ring or even silicone. And he said itโ€™s not an issue at all to worry about. Which means nothing to me.

But Iโ€™m hoping maybe somebody can verify as I donโ€™t want to get down the road in two months later find out I need a new tank at my cost. This is in a small city in Piedmont South Carolina about 30 minutes from Spartanburg or Greenville but there is nobody thatโ€™s local that I can get to go out there and do an inspection for me Iโ€™ve already tried.

Those are those things Iโ€™ve always been curious about because everybody everywhere always says get somebody to inspect it but in reality just how the hell does that play out? Itโ€™s not like theyโ€™ve got this guy sitting around waiting to drop what heโ€™s doing and drive out to do a mobile inspection for you!! And even then you need 2 different people, a mechanic for the driving part and then RV guy for the house part and the slides. So it may be GREAT advice no doubt, but I just donโ€™t see that actually happening in the vast majority of the cases.

I really feel helpless as Iโ€™m very mechanical and I was able to spot a lot of things but when it comes down to it Iโ€™m bullshitting my way through this and I would feel so much more comfortable having somebody who knows what the hell theyโ€™re doing look at the unit especially since I just donโ€™t trust this salesman and he is the type they could be dumping something on me and would have no conscious about it the next night.

Iโ€™ve dealt with and been looking at a lot of dealers over the last six months and a couple I have felt really good about and I knew they had ethics and a couple I had so so feelings about, but this guy is the absolute worst in my opinion and the A typical salesman.

That doesnโ€™t mean there is anything wrong with this coach and it could very well be in tiptop fantastic shape. All Iโ€™m saying is if it isnโ€™t, I sure wouldnโ€™t trust this guy to tell me about it! And you can tell he has no intention of spending too much on it.

So anything anybody can add about this Aqua heating system which handles the hot water as well as heat for the unit??? I think??? I would be very thankful ๐Ÿ™‚ as well as any other items I should be careful and look at as well!

Here is the link for the unit

THANK GOD! Hope they do! Everyone seems to be much more interested in other things than what the thread was about in the beginning. I actually tried to respond to your post but the website was down for maintenance from 4:00 eastern so not sure how long until I just checked now. Assuming you didnโ€™t have a chance to read everything from the start as it was tons of reading! Donโ€™t blame you ๐Ÿ™‚

But a couple pages back I posted Iโ€™m not getting it. Also when a couple people had to go on to be mean and tell me thatโ€™s the best thing that happened to me because I donโ€™t know what Iโ€™m doing, Iโ€™m paraphrasing.

Thanks for trying to help and trying to bring back civility... but believe at this point itโ€™s a lost cause and your advice came a tad late! LOL. I also posted earlier that the tires were new 2016 so most of your advice had already been discussed.

I had wanted to run it through the business and keep it off my personal credit because of other endeavors I am involved in (purchasing another home) and had been preapproved for the business, but at the last second they wanted me to sign as a personal guarantor, which defeats the entire purpose!

But knowing the people here, I knew at any moment someone would try to explain how businesses ALWAYS need a personal guarantor... which is why I didnโ€™t bother explaining the specifics previously.

Well sir, allow me to digress. So far you have mentioned the words arrogant and ignorant regarding forum posters, now comes the phrases SICK and SAD. Plus in your emotional vigor I think you referred to me as a liar and mentioned something about punching me in the face when all I was trying to do was be helpful and point out where I felt your comments were misplaced. So in your further postings you might mention posters being LIARS,STUPID, UNEDUCATED, HATEFUL, and LACKING KNOWLEDGE when responding to your posts. This way we can continue on until the STUPID police arrive and beat up on the winner. Over and out of this thread. This is indeed a real head shaker.

LMAO!!!! I give up, as you are construing what YOU want to from my words, and stretching them to fit any meaning that YOU want them to. I threatened to punch you in the face?????? OMG, really, seriously?????? Just too funny!!!!!

Funny you accuse me of being emotional, as itโ€™s BLATANTLY obvious that you are โ€œglancingโ€ in ANGER as you read and getting furious and not taking the time to take in what Iโ€™m even saying. I could write out I LOVE YOU and some kind away you will say that means I hate you! And I NEVER get emotional, im the confident type with a calm demeanor at all times because Iโ€™m used to being surrounded by stupidity!

But if you read my post and came to the brilliant conclusion that I threatened to punch you in the face (incorrect by a longshot) thereโ€™s nothing more for me to discuss with you as you are going to read what you want to read or worse, make stuff up as you go.

In either case, not interested in what you think are golden nuggets of wisdom..

I did try early on to offer sage advise regarding the Aqua-Hot system and how I perceived the issue and what to look for. There were other posters who did the same but in their own way of explaining things that evolved into a way to try to protect you from making a bad decision. Many coaches that are offered at a steep discounted price are in fact dogs and money pits but certainly not all. Agreed, there might have been a few posts that triggered your emotional response but there again I feel they were, in their own sense, trying to be helpful. You might come down on me for saying this but I feel it's not helpful to blast the ALL moderators for their posts and to call the forum members arrogant and ignorant is way off base. I too must shake my head in disbelief at some of your replies that I think were misplaced. Best of luck in your search for the perfect, lowest discounted coach on the market.

And nobody is attacking the ones that offered the sage advice, so Iโ€™m not sure what youโ€™re trying to say? Or what your point is? I think my words are very justified because they are ALL defensive in nature. This is easily ascertained by reading my replies to any advice offered that was good and then read me my replies to the ones that had to take it further and were sarcastic and rude in nature. Also much more easily ascertained by my comments THANKING all of the posters that made relevant remarks!

Surely, you donโ€™t think my remarks were made to everyone who posted on the thread, because thatโ€™s what it sounds like! I donโ€™t see how itโ€™s humanly possible for you to have read some of the very demeaning, horrible posts that were made concerning my unwillingness to accept opinions on things I didnโ€™t ask advice for like I was a child, or the many comments that were made by posters that they were very glad my financing was not approved???

What kind of a SICK, SAD human being, especially when I said I was not happy and very let down the financing didnโ€™t go through as I wanted it to ( through the business) could say that to another person?? Yet you seem to defend their words and attack mine? All I can say is WOW.

Anytime somebody makes a post like that I will attack โ€œbackโ€ with vigor and of course, some like yourself will apparently seem to focus only on my defensive words and not the original attacker??? Who says if you slap me in the face I only have to slap you back? I may choose to punch you several times and knock you out!!!!

I wont stand idly by and accept rudeness or sarcasm or as Ranger eloquently noted, disrespect in ANY form because as he also noted, itโ€™s what the world has turned into and is normally a starting point from which ALL problems can be traced to!

I hope you are not the type individual that is like the police driving up to a fight and beating up on the one that is winning, regardless of who started the fight? But this is what it sounds like to me.

You think others are injecting their opinions over and above subject matter in an attempt to help me, but I can disprove that because when you disagree with them, they start saying mean things, which doesnโ€™t sound like help to me! REAL GENUINE advice is not given in that manner, FORCED upon.

We have certainly seen a lot of words from Plumber on this issue. I still am puzzled by the statement that he is retired but has a business to try to use to secure financing. If he has a business he isn't retired. Right? If he is retired, he wouldn't have a business. Right? Either way, as I said before, if he meets the standards of the lender (business or personal) he gets the financing. If he doesn't meet the standards... well, he is done. Really pretty simple.

BTW Does the gen start OK? Mine is on the house batteries and would not start with what you found.

Gen hours? And you might want to get a readout of the engine/tranny to check for issues and mileage.

Replace the AH overflow tank which is another negative maintenance issue. Coolant may need replacing.

Have you been under the rig checking the equipment, rust etc?

That coach has not been maintained and the dealer will take every possible shortcut possible to make the sale from your description.

If you continue have an independent inspection including engine/oil and cooling analysis. And you do this not the dealer. The dealer will put in used/refurbed or cheap batteries. Monaco used BadYear tires and I replaced them on both coaches so be prepared to replace them. Another expensive repair/replace item is the refer.

The AquaHot can be very expensive to repair. Do all the registers work? Does the hot water work? Does the hot water work from the engine if so equipped. Does the AH heat the engine for cold starts if so equipped. Is the exhaust smoke free and diesel oil free.

The gen can certainly be another big ticket item.

The CareLess toppers and awnings tend to have issues.

But of course any older coach will have issues.

Several years ago I bought 2 Interstate GC2 batteries in Phoenix. Stamped into the case was the date which was 1 month old. I knew the batteries were made in Mexico and they are doing well in my sons 5er even with a little abuse.
