Awning

On the Road Warrior, has anyone ever adjusted the awning so it allows a tilt. To allow water not to build up in the center, I see the adjustment pins, but I was always been cautious not knowing if the awning would still work with the retract.

I always look at the lay of the land and try to determine which direction ground water will flow. Then I dip the corner that will "hopefully" allow for a flow away from entrance door.

Note: This does not always work as planned.

Mich,

Fully Extend or Fully Retract?

Whether he fully extends them, or fully retracts them, I was trying to tell him to make sure they were at the same position before retracting. ๐Ÿ˜‰
I just noticed in a later post that his awning has an auto retract feature. That will be an issue if it tries to retract with the arms at different positions.:E

I was unable to find out the model in the owners manual, the awning is a Carefree of Colorado not sure if its a( Travel'r)? it has the auto retract feature with numbers and pins like the ones on a easy up shade tent. I did find the sn: 2088181862 and the Pn is OU183425.
It not the common type.

Yes, I put a slight angle on the awning for runoff purposes, but I always return both sides to the bottom position before retracting the awning, not sure it would retract properly otherwise.

Mich,

Fully Extend or Fully Retract?

We've had what I'll call "the ordinary" A&E/Dometic and the Carefree of Colorado awnings. With both awnings, we've left one end "high" and the other end "low" but both ends were higher than the retracted/storage positions.

Then to stow the awning, I drop both arms all the way to the retracted/folding/storage/travel position. Advantage to that is that I can unlock the roller without using the rod. Then I hold the unlocked roller and walk to the center of the roller where I have the strap and rod ready to let it roll on up.

I would suggest lowering which ever side you want for rain run off, but fully extending both arms before retracting.
