Class C without over cab beds?

As a brand new RV hopeful, I am looking for the right Class C RV but only need sleeping for 4. I prefer the entertainment and storage over the cab, because I do not need an extra bed. The Jayco Melbourne has that floor plan, but are there any others? I THINK I want a 26 to 28 ft model. I prefer used but would consider new. Does anyone know which brands have models loike that and are good Class C's?
Any recommendatons?

Needed by law in many states. And with out them working we can not get thru inspection. Friend removed the lights and just put the cover up in his rebuilt front area so looked like they were there. Made him fix them right..
However fixing them so they do not leak is not a big deal. You just need to do it and most do not. Same with the roof seam.. You need to check the roof seams and vents ect several times a year no matter what RV you have. Most will never get on the roof and check any thing. Leaks from vents, AC, skylights and seams are very common. Once on the roof of a used RV you can tell if the person was watching the roof calking ect..

I think the main problem with the water in the over head bunk area is not solved by going to a rig with out a bunk and windows. The main problems I have seen over the years seem to be the running lights and roof seam. Some are the window but I think the roof seam above the window and running lights are the problem most often and the windows get the blame. You still have the running lights and most have a roof seam with out the bunk area (even the one piece front caps) and they are leaking into a closed area. Do not think the problem has gone away just harder to see and get to.

....also the DW can't (should have say won't) drive an A. That was only one of the many reasons we down sized to a C (or some calls it a B+)

My personal opinion is that if you do not prefer the presence of a sleeping area in the cabover, then you really should be in a Class A and then you don't have to worry about upper bunk water intrusion issues.

After 39 years and many friends with "C"'s we'll just have to respectfully agree to disagree. Personally I want something between me and the bumper besides the windshield.

Ordinarily I would agree, however windows are just one source of water intrusion. Other areas prone to water intrusion include the front cap seam and the marker lights to name just a couple.

Unfortunately, most owners do not address a water intrusion issue until it manifests itself via presence of water in the upper bunk. By that time, significant damage has already been done. Adding cabinetry in this area just provides for further masking of a potential problem.

My personal opinion is that if you do not prefer the presence of a sleeping area in the cabover, then you really should be in a Class A and then you don't have to worry about upper bunk water intrusion issues.

Some food for thought regarding upper bunk cabinetry/entertainment centers:

As we all know, the upper bunk area on Class C's is prone to water leaks. It's not a question of "if" but rather, a question of "when".

Check out the Regency 28 or 29 GT by Triple E. I have the 29 and love it. They are made in Canada and used ones are hard to come by but very well built. There is a 28 ft. model at Battlefield RV in Gettysburg, Va. I looked at it but opted for the 29 from the same dealer.Owner of the dealership "Woody" is a great guy to deal with.

With a conventional bunk/mattress arrangement, water leaks are easier to identify and ultimately correct.

With cabinetry in place of the bunk, water leaks are often masked for a very long time and corrective repairs cost a lot more when the leak has been left go for a long time.

There are numerous ways to enjoy the functionality of an entertainment center in/near the upper bunk that it doesn't make too much sense to forfeit the upper bunk altogether in favor of some cabinetry and a TV.

If a TV is desired in this location, consider mounting a TV on a wall mount swing-arm that can be stowed out of the way when not in use. I've also recently seen some very neat TV mounting options which can be attached to the ceiling allowing the TV to pivot up to the ceiling when not in use.

Just my 2c....
Makes absolute sense to me, as with two of us, we have absolutely NO need for an overhead bunk.

Jayco offers that as an option in all their Greyhawks and it has the pull out bed under the entertainment center. We have it in our SENECA and I did remove the matress and use it for storage.

If you don't want the overhead bed, then you might also look at what some call a B+ (which are really C's). Be careful though as many have much smaller tank sizes and storage compartments.

years back I saw a C with entertainment center up front, but under it had a single bunk that slid out. seemed like a good idea to me. that shallow drawer would be great for atlases etc.
