Country Coach Inspire or Magna

I was/am going to look at a 1999 Magna on the 14th. I just got a email and can pick up a 2004 Inspire three slide 40ft with a 350hp Cummins garage kept new tires and batteries for 50k. I think the Magna I can get for 58k. I like the idea of a five year newer coach for less $$ but the Inspire is on the bottom of the pecking order for CC. Does it just have less features with the same build quality?

We had the AC compressor replaced about 5 years ago, and had to have it done again at the Country Coach factory last year. The technician related that if the lines are not well cleaned out after an AC compressor replacement, the new compressor won't last long.
While the issue you mentioned may indicate problems, I would suggest you weigh cost of correcting problems vs. sale price. Some issues can be corrected easily, others can be costly.

Mike, you know what drives me nuts about the '99 CC? Is that the owner has not fixed those problems. If all the air condition needed was freon, fill the darn thing with freon. I bet it needs a lot more than that.

The coach was at the Cat center and he neglected to have the senors fixed for the tach and he hasn't installed the new camera?

I would run from that coach, he is not on top of maintenance or those things would be done, especially when is trying to sell it.

Good luck,
MM.

X2 Mark were not even going to look at it. Those were my thoughts exactly. He said the compressor died changed it and recharged with freon. Stopped working again took it in not sure if it was the same place and they found a fitting leaking but he said he did not want to pay $400.00 to recharge with freon. Fishy

There was a leak at one time and inside the cabinets above the slide the ceiling material was pulling away from wall and saging a little. Outside from that same leak the exterior looked a little wavy. I was not impressed with the cabinetry. From reading I thought there wood work was suppose to be top notch. I'm thinking since this was the bottom of their line up maybe different materials were used.

Wow what a day. 19 hrs round trip with driving and looking at coach. The 04 inspire was a steel at 50k but It just wasn't grabbing me. I could have purchased it and re- sold it and made a quick easy 10k. He was getting phone calls left and right while he was showing us coach. Was my first DP test drive and was awesome. He called me while we were driving home to let me know that someone wired him the $$$ and was sold sight unseen. These were two of the nicest and honest people my wife and I have ever met. George starts radiation treatments tomorrow and will be in our prayers. The search continues.

Ok. The Magna 1999 has one slide. He said the temp gauge on dash reads hot but the digital info center reads normal. Also the tach needs a sensor but he uses the same digital info center to monitor it. Had it serviced at the Cat place and said there are no codes or problems. Has some peeling clear coat on the roof radius. The engine a/c just got a new compressor but needs freon. Back up camera not working but has a new one in box to install.

2004 Inspire has three slides says outside looks like new and inside only thing wrong is three cracked tiles and has three windows that are foggy. Has jacks and 10 gal hot water heater.

Both have newer tires and batteries.

Take this info in hand and call Country Coach and talk to Tech Support. Explain it all to them and ask where the nearest high rated CC repair place is. They can tell you and you can get in touch with that place

The Magna may have Aqua Hot, Air Leveling, Side Radiator. These would be very desirable in my next rig.

The Inspire may have three slides, rear radiator, hydraulic jacks and similar sized engine.

I helped some new owners of an Inspire parked next to my '95 Magna several years ago.

My DW and I agreed that the Inspire did not inspire us in a comparison to our ancient Magna. JMHO

Mike, certainly take a look at the Inspire but since it's only a week away, take a look at the Magna too. Maintenance is the key word for either coach. If the Magna is pristine, it might be the better buy.

Aqua-Hot is the best thing since sliced bread, not sure if the Inspire has it. How many slides in the Magna? Also one thing to check is that there were a couple of years that the paint 'checked' in the darker colors. It happened to brands across the board.

There is a CC Magna at the Las Vegas Motorcoach resort that I know hasn't moved in 4 yrs. It has the checking in the paint (dark burgundy). I've parked next to this coach and it is beautiful but it's being neglected.

Good luck!

If air leveling is important, check that option. I don't think Inspire has the HWH auto level, but jacks instead. Its a less expensive set up.

Country Coach was going for an entry level unit with Inspire. They had to eliminate some of the luxury options usually associated with that brand in order to be price competitive.

I dont think youll be disappointed with any well maintained CC. They didn't build junk.
