Determine “Fair Market Value” for a DP

Hidy-Ho good neighbor,

I’ve read enough to know that finding the “Fair Market Value” of a pre-owned motorhome is a difficult thing to do. NADA “http://www.nadaguides.com” is one company that establish a value but I understand it may not be much help.

I came across PPL (PPL Motor Homes) “http://www.pplmotorhomes.com” and they show the amount a given motorhome sold for and the date it was sold.
Example: 43’ 2009 American Eagle 400hp Cummins w/3 Slides $162,000 03/2013

I’d like to know if you have places that you have found as a good source to help determine market value? My interest is in 42 to 45’ DP’s so you have an idea what I’m looking for.

Thank you as always for your help,

Harry

Hi again rgatijnet1,

Thanks

When you get to the point you want to stay, just bookmark it with your browser and then you can go back there.

Thanks for walking me through the selection process with eBay, I'm not sure I'd of found it without your help!

Thank you one and all, the more knowledge base on a subject the better...

Ebay but most do not actually sell there. I watch CrankyApe as it shows what units sold for but not many 42-45'
go through on it although there is a 2006 American Coach Tradition 42R with a Cat engine.
This post is my opinion (free advice). It is not intended to influence anyone's judgment nor do I advocate anyone do what I propose.

Go to eBay...motors....other vehicles....campers and RV's.....then refine your search for the type of coach that you are interested in.
On the left side of the page you will see a box to check "completed listings".
This will give you the highest amount bid for a coach, that DID NOT sell, in RED, and the actual selling price of the ones that did sell in GREEN.
This is as good a place as any to see that someone's asking price and NADA is just a fantasy. The actual value of any vehicle is what someone is willing to pay and the owner is willing to accept. This is a buyers market and cash talks.

I don't know if this helps. Mine (2012 gas) had a NADA value at about $77k. I was offered $50k from a wholesale dealer. I ended up working a deal with the bank to send it to their auction where it sold for $57k.

Actually, $57k wholesale to $77k retail is a reasonable spread.

Edit- I attempted to sell on several websites on my own with price starting at $59 ad as low as $55 without success.
