does chasis battery charge while generator is on?

My chasis battery and coach batteries were dead yesterday,I have not started the motor home in about 3 weeks, so I charged the chasis battery yesterday,preparing for a 3 hour trip, I plugged in to 50 amp shore power at my home all night and turned the fridge on. This morning, fridge fine, very cold but engine wont start and interior lights dim when turned on. New batterie 2014.Does anyone have suggestions?

Have you verified that indeed your on-board charger (be it a converter, smart charger or inverter/charger) does indeed charge not only the HOUSE but also the CHASSIS battery? Many do NOT.

After plugging in, did you set the inverter control panel to " Charge" ?
