Doghouse removal

I want to remove the doghouse on our 2014 Itasca Cambria so that I can check the radio connection under the dash. This was suggested by the infotainment radio folks when I asked them about an intermittent rear camera signal loss. I undid the clips and wiggled the doghouse slightly free but the sides hit the dash. I stopped at that point because I was concerned of doing more damage. Has anyone ever removed the Ford E450 doghouse, any tips? I also looked at removing the radio from the dash but I couldn't see how to snap it out. Any suggestions. Thanks ahead of time for your help.

I've removed our Ford radio by pushing coat hanger material into the holes on each side of the radio. You have to wiggle the wires around a bit to release the retaining catches but it isn't too difficult.

They sell U shaped wire tools just for this purpose. See how they look on line and then make them yourself.

Wouldn't hurt to wire brush your bolts and add just a touch of anti-seize when replacing the floor bolts (careful not to get on carpeting)

Newer models don't have bolts.

The radio can be removed without pulling the surround bezel.
They make a special tool that inserts into the two holes on the outer edge of the radio.

Might have to slide back the seats and/or swivel them to get it out of the cab.

Older models have a tendency for the captive nuts below the floor to be seized and break loose ๐Ÿ˜ฎ

Please note there is no access to rear radio dash area with the doghouse removed. To get behind the radio you'll need to remove the large dash bezel that surrounds the radio itself.

Removing the plastic trim on the passenger side of our 2003 E450 allowed the doghouse to be removed without difficulty. The trim piece snaps into place - no screws.
