About what i thought. will switch out the back one with the front one to make sure that is the problem. lots better than trying to get a tech at this time of the year. thanks for the info.

NO, because it takes POWER from the control board to energize for cooling. This is one reason Dometic changed the default to COOL and it takes power to energize for HEAT. If the system malfunctions/fails at least it will still COOL. The odds are, as I stated the coil is bad, so there is no way to force it to stay ON. Doug

5 Button means you have old style. Odds are the reversing electric coil is bad. Dometic sells 2 coils as a replacement. They do that because they used 2 different types and they have no way to tell which is which. Once you get the coil it will be obvious which is yours. I doubt the main control board is the problem. As Chris stated, your model it takes power to energize for COLD. So, if you are running in cold mode and it switches to HEAT, that would tell me the energizing coil is dropping out, even tho it has power. Doug

Will check the location. Mine is a dual zone, 5 button. front one is working fine.

Most penguin model have the board in the upper unit on the curb side under a panel. I assume you have a heat pump and it is switching between heat and cool? Older models energized the solenoid in the cool mode,. new model energize it in heat mode. So an older model will switch if the coil is bad or intermittent, or there is a bad connection.
There are a bunch of control setups on these- 4 button CCC, 5 Button, 10 button, Analog, Single Zone LCD, etc.
