we purchased a coachman leprechaun 2020 and first time using could not use both air conditioners and any other appliance without tripping the 30 amp breaker. Dealer says this is normal.
Anyone had a similar problem ?

Most 50 amps are wired to provide 6000 watts per leg. That adds up to 12000 watts.

If it is a 30 amp RV, you might be able to add a load support hybrid inverter charger. If the AC units are 13500 each that may allow running both--and other items, short term. Such as a coffee pot.

It would be important to monitor voltage.

Actually 50 amp service delivers 6000 watts of power, not 12,000 watts. If your rig is equipped with two A/Cs, your shore line power plug should be only compatible with 50 amp service which will run your two A/Cs.

50 amp service is 120/240 volts. 12,000 watts. And that's the way it is!

whemme,

A properly wired 50Amp service consists of two lines (L1 & L2) of 50Amp service, so the maximum power deliverable is:
50Amps x 2 x 120volts = 12,000 watts.

You can't pay a $12,000 charge with $3,600 bucks.

50 amp is 12,000 watts power, 30 amp is 3,600 watts power.

With 2 air conditioners I assume you have a 50 rig and are connected to a 30 amp service using an adapter. True?

Tripping the 30 amp breaker is very common to those used to 50 amp service. Two A/Cs will certainly trip it. One A/C, the microwave, and the water heater on electric will likely trip it. Any combination of high current appliances will likely trip it. No harm. Just reset the breaker and try to remember not to do that combination again.

yep - on 30 amp plug in ... do the math

RV A/C Starting Running
Watts Watts (AVG)
13,500 btu 2750 1250
15,000 btu 3500 1500

30 amps at 110VAC will handle about 3300 watts (ballpark estimate)

If your shore power cord has only three blades and you are tripping a 30 amp breaker it's probably normal. If 4 blades you need to find a 50 amp site to run both AC's at the same time.

If only three blades (30a) you can try staggering the starting up of the ACs by a few minutes to try to get them not running at the same time. But ultimately you'll probably only be able to run one AC at a time.
