Exterior window lock...

I just repaired my entry door catch on my class A. Was a warn bushing which was no problem but it got me thinking about what woul happen if the door lock/catch failed and I could not open the door.

I know people will leave a window unlocked but I wonder if there is a better solution? Is there some type of window lock available that you can unlock from the outside with a key? I have sliding windows.

what about the locks you see all the time on display cases where the sales clerk has the key to open it. Seems like that might work.

We had a problem with the door lock once. Called AAA and they sent out a locksmith who was able to correct the problem. I never did understand what was going on.
