framing dimensions

I need roof framing blueprints for 08 Holiday Rambler Admiral 30sfs. I want to add a vent in the rear (bedroom). Called Manufacture was told they don't give out blueprints any longer. I would sure be grateful if somebody knew where I could find the drawings.

The framework is one thing to find. once you find it, this will only frame in two sides. You will have to install cross members to form the four sided box. Locating nearby 12 volt electric may be a challenge.

That's a good idea using a metal detector. I'm thinking a stud type pipe locator might work. Thanks for the suggestion.

What do you use to locate aluminum framing? Here in hot humid Fla you turn up the a/c and the humidity will outline all your stringers and trusses.

If you have a light in the center of the room, remove it and use a coat hangar to fish in all directions for framing.

if they used alu frame construction
you should be able to locate the frame members and roof trusses with a metal detector

Thanks for the reply. I wouldn't trust the blueprints. I would still do the exploring for myself, but I would like to have an idea what is there and where it is.

As a lifelong carpenter, I would have zero interest in blueprints. I would however, use a digital stud finder, and maybe a really tiny drill bit to determine where the framing is. Other than that you can learn a lot with a telescoping mirror, and a flashlight, to see how ducting is run, and by removing ceiling light fixtures to see how wiring channels are run. I just wouldn't trust chopping a hole in the roof by relying on prints of how an RV was allegedly constructed a decade ago.
there have been a few horror stories here over the years of idiot techs. at dealers doing huge damage while adding additional AC units since they "thought" they knew what they were doing, or where the rafters were "supposed to be".

I would rather do my own exploratory than trust some dusty old drawings for which there is no real need to adhere to by the manufacturer. That's is, there's no reason a manufacturer woud have to follow their own drawings. Even the same RV's often have differing placement of such item.
