https://www.trucks.com/2018/03/26/daimler-second-freightliner-recall/Daimler Trucks North America is recalling 9,480 recreational vehicle chassis because of an incorrectly routed power steering hose could increase the risk of a fire.
The recall has been expanded to include 2011-2017 Freightliner Custom Chassis XBR, XCL, XCM and XCR models manufactured from Jan. 21, 2010 to Dec. 22, 2015. They are equipped with Cummins ISL engines. The truck company issued a recall in October for approximately 1,800 2016-2017 Freightliner RV chassis because of the same power steering hose defect.
“The hose may rub against the power stud on the starter motor, possibly causing electrical arching and a power steering fluid leak,” the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said.
If a defect is found, dealers will reroute the power steering hose “for proper clearance” at no cost. Dealers will begin notifying owners on May 7.
