2010 Mirada 35DS with V10. We weigh right at 20,000 lbs on the grain elevator scale and I set the cruise control @ 65 mph on the interstate. I don't tow a toad. I keep a log of gas and mileage. Over the last 12,000 miles we have gotten 6.77 mpg. We do use the generator a fair amount and if I deduct out estimated generator usage, I'd guess we are right at 7 mpg just for travel.
35 miles from Normal, IL. As close to normal as I'll ever be.

Good responses so far. Your foot, and even wind direction can affect your mileage. Your wise to budget, and plan for expenses, but hereโ€™s my philosophy; I figure on worst case scenario, say 6 mpg, use a high amount per gallon for a total needed for the trip, then I donโ€™t think about it. We just go, and enjoy.

I would expect 6-7.5 mpg depending upon the chassis rating & gearing, whether your towing or not, lots of generator use or not, and level or hilly terrain. If you can get REAL 100% gasoline with no ethanol, bump that up to 6.5-8.5 mpg depending upon the above.

In any case, if you get more than the lower numbers of the estimates, you'll be pleasantly surprised. But don't expect it! ๐Ÿ™‚

Oh, the generator pickup tube is usually set so that the generator cuts-off when the gas tank is down to about 25% full or 20 gallons left. If you're using the generator while travelling as is commonly done during the hot summer months, you'll want to make sure you refuel BEFORE you dip down to that level.

So, from a full 80 gallon tank, plan on refueling after about 50 gallons of driving, or 300-350 miles of driving. Usually, I start looking for gas stations when I pass the 300 mile point on a tankful.

With the toad, 6.8 MPG running 65 - 70
Without the toad, 7.2 MPG running 65 - 70
Best ever? 9.5 MPG No toad, running 55 on the interstate.

I just finished a 5000 mile trip in my 31 ft F53 based towing a light weight Chevy Sonic, and averaged 7 for the trip. Thus 7x80 = 560. You should do some serious gas station hunting with about 1/4 tank left.

7.5 mpg on a good day. Likely closer to between 6 - 8 depending on where you are traveling. Also depends on model. If you are going are going to tow a car, subtract about .5 mpg.

There are factors that have a direct effect on mileage. The greatest you can actually control. How heavy is you right foot? Drive it like you stole it maybe 7 but probably less. On the other side drive it like you're mother in law is seated behind you with a sharp stick ready to poke you in the neck any time she feels uncomfortable with your driving and you could see 8.

7.5 is a good average for general planning purposes.

Distance to tank refill, I like to avoid letting the tank get below 1/4 and also normally fill up near the end of my travel day so I have a full tank for the next travel day. I'm averaging 340 miles between fills of 45 gallons or so.
