Headers installed in my '87 Gulfstream

I replaced the original exhaust manifolds on the Ford 460 in my 1987 Gulfstream with headers made in Texas by L and L Products. Very high quality, and the increase in power is noticeable. I had to slow the idle down, too. If you want to do this with your motorhome, I would advise calling them first, as the right side can have close clearances. I had to specify mine so they could custom bend the tubing. I recommend!

Mine are just steel, although stainless is available. Hi temp paint is used, as powder coating would never take the high temps.

Nice looking headers with a thick flange. Are the made from plain carbon steel or SS. Can’t tell from picture if they are powder coated or just a hi temp black paint.

Looks like someone is going to give Mex a run for his money to win prolific poster of the year!

Yes, I had to have a Y pipe made at a shop, and they did a great job. Heat shields did not come with the headers, I included the OEM shields when I sold the original manifolds on EBay.
I don't know why heat shields would even be necessary with these headers. The heat riser was eliminated, that is pretty much worthless anyway (item on the far left, bottom photo).
The flanges are 1/2". I recommend lightly greasing both side of an exhaust manifold gasket when installing. The first one leaked right away on the right side, my fault, the second one worked fine when greased.

Just curious, was a "Y" pipe and necessary heat shields included with the headers? Nice thick flanges. Have only seen those on Banks headers.
