How do I find a certified RV technician?

I have looked on line and I cannot find a certified technician anywhere close to us. I would like someone to take a look at a rig we just looked at and I have no idea who to go to.

Unfortunately, this woman does not know any of the history of the rv. Her husband just passed away a few months ago and he took care of that. I know it runs well and everything works as she did just have brand new tires put on it before her and her daughter drove it 20 hrs to get down here from Michigan. (Her daughter is a friend of my friend, so I feel comfortable with her story) The mother and father bought the RV 2 years ago from a dealer (General RV). It had 20,000 miles on it when they bought it and in 2 years only put on 2,000 miles. It was mostly parked at a campground for the 2 years. They were just getting ready to take it on the road when the husband died.

This is a 2011 Jayco Melbourne 28F and she want's $57k for it. I just think that is too high for something that I don't know if we are going to have engine, hoses or whatever issues with. Unfortunately she still owes $56k on it. Anyway, that was a long explanation for a simple question.

That’s how most newer RVs from private parties are priced unfortunately...”I owe X, so I gotta sell it for X despite it being worth Y.” Politely exit. She’ll never sell it for less than owed.

I wouldn’t worry about an inspector too much until you get into the ballpark.

Thank you. I was thinking more around the $50K mark, but appreciate your input. I like your suggestion of taking it to a dealer to get a value!

NADA guides has average retail at $51K. Low retail is $42K..Low retail is what I would expect to pay.

You could suggest for her to take it to a dealer and get an actual cash value then go from there. She won’t like it.

It’s often hard to deal with friends or acquaintances.

She’s trying to base the sales price on payoff and the two have no relationship with each other.

I wouldn’t worry about an inspector too much until you get into the ballpark.
