How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

I'm new here, and curious.

How many of us in Class C own Dodge B300 incomplete
cab/chassis based RV's? I know two others- Steve aka
Ripsaw, with a 1977 Brougham, and Leroy aka 1978_Dodge
_Delta who owns a 440V8 powered sharp looking 1978
Delta RV. I would like to ask, and offer, help, idea
swapping and comparing notes on our particular RV's
which are based on the Dodge B300 van chassis.

Yeah, I know. These are low tech, podgy old RV's that
would be considered "entry level" for folks like me,
but I have a deep and abiding respect for the quality
of these old "monsters of the open road". And anyone
wanting to pick brains, joke about, share notes or just
brag about our old A- Dodge-io's are certainly welcome
to PM or email me. Between all of us we can form a real
good support group, and help each other with problems
we know we'll encounter with an older vehicle.

Sure. I'd love a new RV. But I'd rather have an older
one already paid for, and a lotta great memories. Call
me frugal, an old hippie, or whatever you will. I'm proud
of my old land yacht.

Mopar Madness Manifest in the flesh,

Mark aka White Knight

P.S. Mine's a '72. Is there an older one out there someone's
motorvating in? Maybe even a Travco? W/K

It's unlikely.

Most RVs do not charge the engine battery from the cabin battery charging system, only from the engine while running.

Also you should be aware that most older RVs charge the cabin battery at a fixed amp and voltage. My RV is a 1979 and it charges at 13.6 v and 3 amps which boils the batter dry in several days. I put a disconnect switch in so I can leave the RV plugged in and not charge it from the converter. I have battery maintainers (not trickle charges) for both the engine and cabin batteries. These can be left on indefinitely.

You can test whether your engine battery is getting charged by using a volt meter to check the voltage at the engine battery while the RV is on shore power. If the voltage is over 13v then it is getting charged. You can confirm by removing the shore power and the voltage should drop.

I totally love the three windows on the passenger side. Does the drivers side have the same thing? Nice RV!

Thanks! The driver's side is different. The passenger side has the two tall windows at the swivel chairs, and the smaller window over the small table. There is a jackknife couch on the driver's side, so it has a long horizontal window over the couch.

How's your Dodge van doing? Are you still enjoying it?

Randy
Yes but have only used it for non camping road trips lately since my girlfriend bought a Class C. We plan on taking the van out camping soon though.

My condolences also. I don't know you well but you have given me great advice over the years on this thread with my current Dodge Van plus my older 1976 Dodge Class C that I used to own. Take care,

Thank you. We're getting through it. It wasn't unexpected, but it does unexpectedly fully suck.

Took the camper out again last weekend to a small music festival near Bellefountaine, OH called Southwind Music Festival. As a tent camper for the first 50 years of my life, I have to say I like the RV life much more! My friends that were Boy Scouts say I'm "glamping", but so be it! ๐Ÿ™‚

Let's see if this works! I finally got my RV out for the first time this year. What fun! Much easier than tent camping. Kids and I had a ball.
