How many of us are there? Owners of Dodge based RV's?

I'm new here, and curious.

How many of us in Class C own Dodge B300 incomplete
cab/chassis based RV's? I know two others- Steve aka
Ripsaw, with a 1977 Brougham, and Leroy aka 1978_Dodge
_Delta who owns a 440V8 powered sharp looking 1978
Delta RV. I would like to ask, and offer, help, idea
swapping and comparing notes on our particular RV's
which are based on the Dodge B300 van chassis.

Yeah, I know. These are low tech, podgy old RV's that
would be considered "entry level" for folks like me,
but I have a deep and abiding respect for the quality
of these old "monsters of the open road". And anyone
wanting to pick brains, joke about, share notes or just
brag about our old A- Dodge-io's are certainly welcome
to PM or email me. Between all of us we can form a real
good support group, and help each other with problems
we know we'll encounter with an older vehicle.

Sure. I'd love a new RV. But I'd rather have an older
one already paid for, and a lotta great memories. Call
me frugal, an old hippie, or whatever you will. I'm proud
of my old land yacht.

Mopar Madness Manifest in the flesh,

Mark aka White Knight

P.S. Mine's a '72. Is there an older one out there someone's
motorvating in? Maybe even a Travco? W/K

Flowmasters will work if you exhaust them behind the rear wheels. On mine the Flowmaster and the 3" exhaust is in front of the left duals... Makes for a noisy ride with the drivers window open, but it does "drown out" the noise under the doghouse. :R

Geez ... molten metal and flame is ALWAYS entertaining ...

Seriously, I'm an old-school, hard-core senior non-commissioned officer ... drink like a damn fish but sober up and fly right before duty time.
Hey Griff, I had a "Brown Shoe" MSgt shop chief something like that when I was a young'en. Had keg in a fridge in the garage in base housing... He ran a line from there through a hole he made in the wall to a "regulation" beer tap mounted in the kitchen. I never once saw him sober at home (was over there a "couple" of times) nor drunk at work. The man loved his 50 Fords too... Had 2 or 3 of them in various states of "restoration".

No, ^3 means cubed ... ^4 means quadruple ,,, or to the fourth power ,,, or something. (Never ask a mathmatician or software engineer to give a techinical answer after the third bottle of wine unless you have a blackboard ... and a lot of caffeine for the audience.)

Yep, electric radiator fan. As of right now, the stock clutched fan provides 80% of the noise in the driver's compartment. The other 20% is intake noise, which we're going to try to fix with the intake hose stuff, which also will give us cooler intake air (hopefully).

It's just a thought and a question - has anyone on here done it, what is involved and is it worth it?

It might be better to ask this question on "that other forum," where Charlie1935, bigdog440, Madlurch, PowerWagonPete, and the others can chime in.

It seems to me that the stock clutch fan and any electric fan would generate roughly the same amount of noise. In both cases, the fan blades need to 'beat the air' to the same degree to draw air through the radiator. Consider the noise produced by helicopters and propeller driven fixed wing aircraft ... the military has a vested interest in making those as quiet as possible.

There may be other advantages, besides potential noise reduction. Flex fans, clutched fans, and electric fans all seek to achieve the same goal ... which is to shut the fan off when not needed. I'd be willing to say noise reduction is a secondary consideration in any of the alternatives.

I know, in my case, noise reduction is a distant second in terms of the reasons for the cold air intake I'm planning for MLP. (I'm banking more on insulation for noise reduction than any other engine compartment mods.)
