HWH Leveling System, Advise Needed Please.

Today I pulled our Allegro Bus out of the barn and washed it, along with that I power washed the leveling springs to clean them before lubrication. I then attempted to extend the cylinders in order to clean/inspect and lubricate, however, the only thing that happened when I pushed the air down button is all the indicator lights lit on the box. I tried turning all power off, key on accessory and ignition positions, nothing changed. The "off" button does turn all the lights back off.

The mechanism worked fine in April, I'm wondering if the water created a problem at a sensor. It never crossed my mind while spraying them down as those are exposed under the vehicle and subject to the elements. It's back in the barn now so by morning everything should be dry.

This afternoon I did some non-destructive cleaning on the control unit and also replaced all the corroded fuses with new ones. Once done, I connected it up and it tested out 100% with a fully functional system. Picture below!

The wiring would give Thomas Edison heartburn, it resembles a pile of cooked spaghetti. Nonetheless, everywhere I work on the coach there is an honest effort made to clean it up.

Definitely be cleaning and coating connections wherever possible. If I had known where this thing was located I would have serviced it when the coach was purchased. In my post of the contents of the plastic enclosure under the "hood", room is adequate, the control box could have been mounted inside it and made easy to locate and service.

Basic rule of electricity drummed into me many years ago by my auto shop instructor in high school: "ALL ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS MUST BE CLEAN AND TIGHT".

Loose or dirty connections along with the sneaky green wire (corrosion under the insulation) are the most common electrical problems regardless if it is AC or DC current. If we all remember this basic rule our lives will be much simpler. Dielecrtric grease is a lifesaver when used religiously on connections.

I will probably do just that, however, I need it for our trip so winter will be a good time to send it in. For now, careful cleaning should suffice, it's working. Puzzling how all the corrosion developed with it being under the dash.

1. Those fuses are not related to the HWH system
2. LOOK at the corrosion behind the Control Box Ground wire(That large white wire on the stud). Odds are you need to send the Control box back for a rebuild. Doug

GOT IT!! Due only to the assistance from the members on this board. 🙂

I was puzzled yesterday after the suggestion was made to check the fuses on the control module as I could not find a control module. The picture below shows the outside of the firewall, and it has three fuses related to the leveling system. It all resides in large plastic box.

Second picture is the control box I found after I removed a floor trim panel, reached up under the dash area and pulled what appeared to be a metal box after turning it around whereby the fuses could be seen! The schematics told me, you all told me, but I could not locate the box even after looking up in there with a flashlight. The system began working as soon as I pulled the unit out of it's hiding place. So I'll clean it all up and hopefully it won't reoccur.

I cannot thank you all enough for this help!!

God bless, you probably saved our vacation.

According to HWH, IF the ground connections are good and you have 12 volts plus to the Control box, the odds are either the Control box or Touch pad is defective. The bad news is, those parts are no longer available. You will have to send both the Touch Pad and the control box back to HWH for them to rebuild them. IF the control box is still by the drivers inside wall by the steering column, they would want the control cable between the touch pad and control box sent back also. Doug

Touch pad sits on the floor in mine. I took the touch pad/circuit board out, blew clean with air, reinstalled with same result. Looking for control box next!

take the number off the control box and look at the site I sent u a link for they may have a good used one

Control board(box) is silver and about 1/2 the size of a shoe box. On Tiffin, it is either on the front wall where the drivers left foot would rest or on that sidewall or outside in the front Storage compartment in front of the LF tire. IF mounted on the floor, then the odds are it is corroded from the LF tire spray over the years. Look at the back of the touch pad and if you see corrosion that is your problem. Doug

2. I am HWH factory trained
3. If I state what needs to be done, that is what needs to be done:B
4. I also work on Tiffin (still do) for that 37 years. Doug

The box has power but perhaps there is an issue elsewhere. Sounds as though I have some extensive troubleshooting to do before our upcoming trip. In the event I run out of time, is there a way to manually operate the cylinders in order to stabilize the coach? I believe I can dump the air with the air fitting under the hood.

two things.1) I once had a air level system flash the control lites and it was a blown fuse.this was in a beaver contessa
2) try disconnecting the touch panel and reconnect
3) no way to manually lower them only to release(lift) them
