looking for advice or insight on the Itasca models

Hello everyone,
New member to the forum, and will be a new owner of a Class C hopefully in the near future. I have read a lot of the topics here regarding the purchase of a used Class C and have learned a lot about my future purchase.
Now I do think I know what I want to purchase, being an Itasca model, hopefully in the 27-29' class. After looking at a fare amount of used units I feel that these are some of the better built and seem to have layouts that meet our means.
I do have some questions un answered though. Do you guy have any experience with towing a boat with these units. Not only towing but launching a boat. I would love to hear the pro's and cons performing such task, with the Itasca's or any other model of this length.

Hey Baja, Actually the model that we purchased today happens to be different than the one you describe.
We purchased a 2008 Itasca 329B. It happens to have 2 slides on the same side of the coach. 1 being the couch slide and the other being the bedroom slide. the bedroom in the back then becomes a walk around queen and the couch slide opens up the dinette area nicely. which happens to be important as we are a family of 4 with 2 large dogs.

Funny thing happened today when we arrived at the dealer to test drive and do a more thorough look at the unit we intended to purchase. when we arrived it was still on the show room floor with the dash ripped apart in a non running state.I guess they had been working on it all week to get out of the show room because of it not starting.
In response to this one not working the dealer brought in 2 exact units from another source with less miles for us to go over to make a decision on. In the end we negotiated a good deal for both sides and are now currently waiting to pick her up next weekend after it goes threw the Ford dealer and threw their shop to complete its PDI and negotiated items.

Newly....I believe you are considerign the same model I am considering. I am looking at a 2008 Winny Access 29T. It has one small slide (dinette). I have a thread/post on opinions on the model/ What can you share about the model, if it is in fact the same model? What year are you considering? I really liked the rear/side storage, the fiberglass roof....but thought the slide (dinette only) was rather small. I have a DW and 2 DS 9 and 14. The four of us plus an occasional guest (granny). How many will be in your rig?

check out the mfr. of those double pain windows to be sure they aren't the ones that all fog up quickly.

No I plan on including this into the deal negotiations. Fairly simple install at a low cost to a dealer I would think.

Well the day is getting closer, with more and more research I really do think this is the one.
Anyone have any final advice before my purchase this Saturday?

Well looked at a real nice Itasca Spirit 329B today. It happened to be on the showroom floor of a local dealership. Because of time restraints we decided to put a deposit down and return next weekend for a much better look and test run.
What I do know: Ex rental
30000 miles
30 hours on the gen set
Tow package
Air bags
Double pain windows
will come with a full mechanical on power train and coach (PDI)
Will have a full 90 day guarantee from dealer
will need tires
will need an awning installed
I might consider looking to have the under belly coated

Anything you guys can add before I make my decision next week will be great.

Hi , We have a 31C Itasca. 31 feet and some inches long. She has been minimal trouble. Be aware that many, but not all of these units have the generator in the very back. ours is on the driver side rear compartment. I couldn't even come close to launching a boat without getting the generator under water. so, front hitch required in this case.

just heard back from winnebago on this TPO-EPDM roof issue.

Thank you for your inquiry and interest in Winnebago Industries. All of our products are built with Fiberglass roofs. For a very short time we did try a rubber roof on a couple of products, but they are now all Fiberglass.

Some of today's "Caps" are more of a "Tiara." They may do away with a couple tricky side-to-cabover seams, but certainly nowhere near the majority.

What even a Tiara should do, though, is allow the very front edge of the roof to be crowned. With no Cap/Tiara, the siding material they use has already bent, to form the cabover, and can't bend the other way to form a roof crown.

If you open the Forest City site above the one you went to. Than search Spirit. They have two listed. One with a Vynal roof and one with FG.

I believe,at least on the 31K, that they are now building them with fiberglass roofs. I don't think it was ever listed as an option, but they have just changed the material for the roof. My 2014 has the rubber roof and I've seen others with the fiberglass roof.
