Microwave

I have a (what I think) common problem, most of the time when I use the microwave it blows the fuse, it blows the fuse even when it is the only electrical item besides the A/C working.
I am looking for an advise as to what Microwave should I buy that could resolve this problem. Maybe a high efficiency unit? I am open for suggestions. My motor home has a 30 amp system..

Not if you have 50 amp service.

Thank you, I purchased a new microwave since the plate was not turning anymore, I also replaced the fuse breaker, and will remember the advice to turn off the AC if it happens again.
Thank you very much for all the help

Me too. Tells me I don't know what I'm talking about, but he hasn't even offered a solution to the OP. At least we are trying.

You can take yours out and they can match it up at most big box stores or an electric shop.

I will amplify that.. last Sunday I tripped the breaker on this site twice, (50 amp breakers) I cut way down,, Prior to Sundy in the 8 years I've had this RV I have tripped many 20 or 30 amp breakers (Well only 2 20's but several times on one of 'em, once on the other) but I've never EVER tripped a 50... On Monday I tripped the 50 3 times. Called Security and ask them to alert the electrician to bring a couple of new 50's out (I mean it's the parks' bnreaker, I'm not paid to fix that one).

21 hours and one phone call later the first electrician shows up, NO breakers (They told him I had NO power, Idiots got the message wrong).. 3 more hours and the 2nd one shows. HE brought breakers.

He did some of the same testing I did, then he got his test equipment out (I used nothing God did not give me to test, (nose, fingertips, brain) (Smelled hot wire, Felt hot breakers, Thought about it). Had to put gloves on to remove the breakers, After he put the new ones in and the cover back on the box I picked up the old breakers and they were STILL uncomfortable to hold.

The park manager said "You were drawing too much power" I ask him how I could do that without tripping the breakers (Too close to the maximum) I told him what was running (Less than half the rated load, WAY less) he tried to blame my plug (Both I the park electrician cleared that, Plug and outlet were cool to the touch, onlyl the breakers were hot).. He finally had to give in.

What can I say,, He has some electrician training.. I'm a certified electronics tech with engineering credits (Both academic and published). Poor guy was out of his league.
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

I'm glad a few on here agree with my guess about breaker age and suggestion to just turn AC on fan

I think we are talking about a 1995 Fleetwood Coronado, probably a 30 amp system, I would say to turn off the air conditioner while you are microwaving. Replacing the circuit breaker might help too! At 18 years old, it is getting wore out. Circuit breakers do have a life span. And each time time they trip, it shortens their life. It is estimated a quality made breaker is reliable for approx. 10 years....under NORMAL circumstance.

Is it the microwave breaker in the RV or is it the breaker on the power post?
Does it pop the breaker if the A/C is off? With 30 amp service you are close to max on your power use. Without knowing what else could be on. It would help to know if it is the main breaker or a circuit breaker or the outside service pole breaker.
I know on my MH I have 50 amp service and each of my A/C are on 20amps, converter is 15 amps and microwave is 15 amps. So it would be easy to pull 30 amps.

Are you blowing a fuse or tripping a circuit breaker. If you're blowing a fuse, it's probably time for a new microwave.

Most microwaves are on a dedicated circuit. This means the only thing on that circuit (circuit breaker) is the microwave. If the circuit breaker is tripping, I would replace the circuit breaker before replacing the microwave.
