Need info on Rear Axle Seal

Hi, since last November, I had oil seals replaced 4 times on the rear axle and they still leak. I need some info on the seals used and liked to know if anyone had seal replaced and which part number they used. I have a Roadmaster chassis on a Monaco Cayman 2003.

First replacement they used an SKF seal part number 34384. Two of them installed by different shops leaked pretty bad.
Second was a National seal 370047A, 3 of them leaked, installed by different shops. Those two seals are interchangeable.

Now, I phoned Monaco and they refered me to Dana Spicer, Dana told me the seal to be used on my Dana S150 specific part number is a Spicer part number W20HH100. I cannot find any cross reference for this seal and it is a rare find, but I finnaly found one. This seal is also used on a W20 and W22 Workhorse part number W8000276.

I also found some info on this site: http://www.oemys-performance.com/whparts3.htm.

I you have any info. please let me know, thanks.

This is the type of seal I would like they used, but they do not seem to be the best shop in town for Axle. I am stuck with them for warranty work and this is why I ordered the original from spicer, if I tell them different, they will blame it on me for having provided the seal.

If it leak again I will go to a shop that specialize on truck axle.

The one they had been putting in was for a smaller diameter shaft so it would have been too tight on your 3.5 in shaft. Not a lot tighter but it probably didn't help the shaft any.

Yes, this is what it looks like, probably squeezing the seal.

OK, just got the new seals from Spider. Indeed the number on the box is W20HH100, but, on the seal it says it is a CR 35000, common seal. It's just too bad that Spicer would not give this number instead of their number so you could at least go for interchange if you do not have the CR in stock

They will install a Speedy Sleeve or Wear Sleeve tomorow, they say the shaft was worned when they took the old one out the last time they did it. OK, now it is worn!! Why the hell they did not install a sleeve the last time?

Anyway, the bill is on them, so they can do whatever as long as it stops leaking for my next trip to Mexico.

This is what I think too, SKF is a little off. Hope the right one will do the job.

Has the inside and outside bearing both been changed?
That is a common seal and should be in stock at any good sized truck repair place. As said above napa has them.

They replaced the seals when they replaced the Brake Rotors, there was no leak prior to that. The oil level was pretty close to the filling hole and the vent was defenitly not plugged, I checked it twice and the shop checked it too.

The seals installed where SKF 34384, then National 370047A, but there is no information anywhere that these are an interchange for the original W20HH100 or W8000176.

The SKF 35000 look much more like the W20HH100.

As for dimensions, Spicer does not provide any dimension for the W20HH100 or the W8000176. So it is hard to say if the replacements where adequate to start with.

SKF 35000 : http://www.rockauto.com/fr/moreinfo.php?pk=1837330&jsn=8

At this web site, they list the tools to install the seals and CR35000 is on the same line as W20HH100.

The vent is clear, no problem with it.

The shop ordered two new seals with Dana Spicer part number W20HH100, there is no interchange for this seal and it seems to be the same as W8000176, workhorse chassis. They ordered from a shop that repair differential and transmission on big rig.

I would think it is the same as an SKF35000.

Hope it will do.
