New RV, Pitted wheels??

Went to pick up our new 2014 Itasca Navion today, and there was some pitting on the aluminum wheels; one was worse than the other.

We left it there for the dealer to polish them, and when they called, they indicated the wheels looked good, with only some minor remaining pitting.

We go back tomorrow to pick it up, and I agree aluminum wheels will typically have some pitting if not constantly waxed, but I'm not sure if We should accept that on a brand new $80K RV.

What are your thoughts?

Thank you

EDIT: I used the word "Pitted" above, but not sure if it's actually pitting; but it is some type of corrosion that resembles pitting.

Did you get this in writing? Not saying the dealer was dishonest but sometimes they will say anything to get you to leave with the rv.

We picked up the Navion today, and the wheels still have some pitting. The dealer is real good, and will order 4 new wheels.

The aluminum wheels on my 11 year old coach still shine brightly with no pits.

My 15 year old rims are not pitted (I polish them regularly)--- I would not accept a new rug with pitted rims!

Bet the unit was drove to the dealer in the middle of winter and they just never bothered to rinse the whole unit off and get the salt off of it. Look REAL close at the underside and other metal for RUST!!

I always thought aluminum wheels had some kind of clear coat on them. I wouldn't accept pitted wheels on a new $20k car let alone a $80k rv. I'd insist on new wheels or walk away.

I see you're from nj. Can you tell us the rv dealer?

Exactly what I just said to my wife.

Hopefully all is good tomorrow, and then I'll cite the dealers name; overall they have been very good and up front.

If its bad, go find a new one. I've never seen pitting on wheels worth noticing.
