Newmar Bay Star

Still looking for a newer MH to replace my 1996 GBM and came across a 2006 Baystar 2901 30 ft and 2013 Baystar 3302 34ft. I know Newmar's in general had hung side walls does this include the Baystar's also? They both had 2 pass through storage bays and 75 gals of FW according to the owners. Both looked good from the pictures. Are there any owners that can comment on these Baystars? 2006 is on a WH chassis and 50k miles asking $54k high Nada is $37k. The 2013 is on a Ford chassis with 25k miles asking $71k high Nada is $74k.

Some people are so critical on this site. Why does it matter what the HP or Torque is as long as you are happy with the Performance. I know that the 5 Star GREATLY improve my V-10 performance without spending another dollar. We don't race down the road, we enjoy the ride. I have known people that have spent THOUSANDS and get to the top of the hill the same time I do and in some cases behind me.

That's a hung wall unit, as all Newmars are.
Thanks Bruce, I wasn't sure because they are the low end of the Newmar models. I would be a good thing not to worry about delamination.

I don't think delamination is an issue on any newer rv's anymore regardless of the wall structure. The adhesives they use now aren't like the ones in the past. I can't say I've heard of a delamination issue on any RV built within the past 10 years. I am sure it happens, but I can't recall ever seeing a post about it. I wouldn't hang my hat on that as a decision for brand.

I know my S-I-L's Fun Finder TT delaminated in less than 2 years.

Me personally, I wouldn't own a laminated unit - but thats just me.

I have searched various Mfg web sites and have not been able to find what is different in the bonding process or adhesives used. They use just marketing terms rather than eng terms in describing their processes and materials. Some are vacuumed bonded some are pinch rolled bonded and some are press cured. I also can't find out what is different in the adhesives today vs mid 90's. I can tell you I looked at a 2009 Safari Simba and a 2009 Damon Daybreak and neither owners were ever up on there roofs both were delaminated. If anyone on here knows what year these improvement were made and what the improvements actually were I would be very interested in hearing them.

I have the 3402. The 5 Star took me from 363 HP to 412 HP and the torque went up greatly. I can't remember the number but it performs very well. When I installed it I was weary of the performance but It was well worth the money. My other RV's were diesel and I missed the power but the 5 star did the job of making the V-10 climb and maintain speed in the hills due to the change in the transmission shift points and the torque converter locking point.

You had a dyno confirm that? 5 star doesn't confirm any torque or HP gains. you either had this on a dyno or this is bolt on Bob wishful thinking

I have a 2015 Bay Star and love it. I have owned several RV's over the years and this is my last. I have the V-10 Ford with a 5 STAR tune and it will do everything I ask of it. The workmanship is rivaled only by Tiffen and is first class. Hopes this helps.
What was your performance gains with the 5 star tune, 40-60 mph times or HP gains? This will be my last also, so I want to get it right. Which model do you own?

Does it have a hung wall or bonded walls?
