I don't have the manual for my 2008 cross country so I need to ask this question. 340 HP Cummins. Freight liner custom chassis. Took to Gafney May 2015 had full service. How often are you supposed to CHANGE OIL???

There are some variables here. We're out west and average about 10K-12K a year. We don't have a lot of hot and cold weather changes or wet weather. I change mine either once a year or cheat a little and let it go to 16-18 months or 16K.

If you get yours out at reasonable intervals, you could probably push to the 16K mark, recommended mileage, even though it may take you 18 months to get there. I wouldn't go past 18 months even if the mileage is under the recommended.

I do my fuel filters EVERY oil change, and my air cleaner between 18 months and 24 months.

Many forget about their air dryer filters and hydraulic fluid filters. Freightliner has intervals for those too.

I've got a 2005 Dutch Star with a Cummings ISL engine. Factory Service Manual calls for oil/filter change 16,000 miles, 400 hours, or 1 year. Turns out the 1 year covers both the hours and miles. I also change my two fuel filters, and hydraulic spin on filter. There is another hydraulic filter in the tank that is on a two year cycle, along with the air dryer spin on filter. Those intervals came from Spartan the chassis manufacturer. There are also two filters in the Allison MH3000 that depend on whether or not you have Allison's Trans Syd fluid in the transmission.

Best bet, contact the engine, chassis, transmission manufacturer customer service to get the specifics on your unit.

Since I do my own service I also bought the Factory Service Manuals from Spartan, Cummings, and Allison.

I use my coach a lot and in 10 years have just a tick over 130,000 miles on it.

I try to change mine about twice a year even though there is not a lot of mileage. I put new oil and filter in before my usual longer trip ( about 5 K miles ). I then try to get it changed again for the next months even though much fewer miles. I consider this cheap insurance to keep the old 5.9 cummins going strong.
Changing oil on the motorhome is way easier than my cars as there is so much room under the engine to work. Just need a much larger pan for the oil. Cheers Doug

I thought once per year and of course change filter and I thought they said 12,000 miles. We just put 5,000 miles on it and the change oil came on in the digital display. Guess they didn't reset it???!!

In a diesel, you would change the oil once per year. It is rare that you would put enough miles on it to change the oil ore often than that.
