oil for 8.3Lcummins

Can I use Rotella 5w-40w synthetic in place of Rotells 15w-40w in the cummins 8.3L

Go into your engine book and see what outside temp ranges is recommended for which weight oil. Off the top of my head, I don't know but operating in a very cold climate, it may be OK. Read the bible. THey know.
