Still looking for a new (for me) used rv. Now I am looking at the pulse/icon but the salesman cannot answer my question. Does anyone know the difference between the 24 cas 30 diesel and the plain 3.0 diesel other than $10,000 dollars.

Thanks for the help in advance.

Any given model year, all second generation diesel Sprinters sold in the U.S. should have the same 3.0 V-6. You may be seeing two different descriptions of the same engine.

Two different model years can be $10K apart in asking price. Two diifferemt dealers can be $10K apart for virtually identical used vehicles. There can be a lot of room in an asking price for bargaining and playing trade-in price games.

Not correct. In the 2010 MB Sprinter (which generally arrived in 2011 RVs) the power output went up to 188 HP. It also became a DEF engine. Both versions of the V6 get about the same gas mileage....which is around 15. The gas engine was available for a short time but is less powerful and I'm pretty sure it requires premium fuel. It does get worse fuel economy (understandable). I know of folks that are happy with them.

The 2010 & later V-6 engines have a power upgrade to 184 hp I think, by tweaking and introducing DEF (diesel emission fluid). Owners report improved mileage. DEF is in a separate tank and injected as needed by the ECU.

It is not just the dealer, this is based on NADA prices and it applies to all the 2010 miles. I suppose it is possible that there was a change in the engine somewhere in the middle of the model year, or perhaps its some kind of finishes. The only thing the dealer could come up with is "this one has full body paint." However, I haven't seen any pictures of Pulse or Icon pictures that don't have that.
