Route Around Norfolk, VA

Heading to Virginia Beach, VA traveling along HWY 58 from NC headed East. On HWY 58, there is a Toll Tunnel...Midtown Tunnel I think it's called...in Norfolk. I really don't want to go through that tunnel on the Coach.. Anyone in the area that is familiar with a route around?

Thanks!

This is true, we travel 58e to Virginia Beach numerous times each year and NEVER go thru the tunnel, no matter what we are driving.

Take US58 until you get on I-664 south, it will become I-64 west (after I-264 branches off to the left.) This will take you over the "high rise bridge" over the Elizabeth River and through Chesapeake, VA to I-264 in Virginia Beach. You will bypass all tunnels (where you are required to stop to verify the propane is off.)

Just follow signs to Virginia Beach, when 64 splits stay to the right. If you go straight it takes you to the tunnel. it will be just past the Bowers Hill.
