shifting cable wont shift

We have a 97 pace arrow, and the transmission will not shift past nuetral,we have checked it up to the steering column but can't get passed that. Is there anyway to disassembe the steering column to check that cable? Thank you.

Thank you everyone. After tearing everything apart we finally found a connection that was causing the problem. Thank you for all your help.

If you have a Ford chassis, you don't have to disassemble the steering column. Just start removing the plastic trim around the column. Then remove the nuts or bolts that hold the column up. The cable end should be visible at this point. It helps to lift the dash.
Most shift cable failures on the older Ford chassis were because of aftermarket headers and no heat shield.

We had a 90 ford chassis do the same thing. there is a little pall pin at the base of the shift handle at the steering column that snapped. onsite repairman new exactly what it was and kept spares in his tool box.

Look over the drivers side wheel toward the front of the RV and you will see a level that the cable to connected to. That is about even with the dog house. That cable runs down to the transmission to another bracket. Its past time for a replacement. You can take it out and don't loose the connectors. and take it to a Auto Parts store or a boat place if you near one. They will usually have something in stock at the auto parts. Good boat places can make it. Your old connectors have to be use on the new cable
