Shortest Class C Recommendations

Hi,

I am hoping to buy a used Class C to full time in, and need recommendations. I feel like a Class B would be too cramped for me plus they are too expensive 😕

I want a short Class C (nothing over 24') so I will be able to park it easily. I am hoping for nothing older than 2004 but need it to be relatively inexpensive but with lower miles and reliable (I realize I maybe asking for too much lol). If I have to take out a small loan, I'm OK with that too. I want an oven and both a couch and dinette. I don't necessarily need a bedroom as I'm fine with sleeping in an overhead bunk.

I want to boondock a lot, so am hoping to outfit it with solar panels and a composting toilet (or even a portable toilet) and am assuming I'd need a generator and inverter?

Can anyone give me any suggestions? TIA!

That Majestic 19 footer is about as space efficient as I have ever seen in such a short length. I would have thought there is enough of a market demand to sell them direct to the general public. Maybe one day.

I guess I should have said they have various of the Majestic models available for sale pretty regularly, though not necessarily all of them. I can understand why the short ones would sell quickly; there are fewer (if any) roughly comparable models available from other sources. They do currently have bunches of the larger units available.

Yup Photomike is correct---Cruise America told me they *might* have some in September but there are no guarantees 😞 El Monte had one 2017 19' but it was out of my price range and is now gone.....

Majestic is just the house "brand" that CruiseAmerica uses, I assume custom built to their specifications by one or more of the major RV makers. Typically they have a number of used ones for sale, listed on their web site. If you look there, they are not too hard to find and in my opinion priced appropriately for what they are.

Right now there are non available any place and won't be till at least September unless it is a private seller. I was offered $20,000 over what I paid for mine, if I did not want to use it this summer I would sell and buy another in the fall to replace it.

Max, Thanks for posting the photo with the dimensions. It almost looks like two people under say 5'9" could sleep angled north-south with their feet almost meeting. I wonder why they didn't use a conventional cabover to give more room at the front.

You asked and they are doing :B The new units (this years ones they bought) have a traditional cab over design with more room but the trade off is no more fiberglass one piece nose. They also have windows that open in the cab over but for me not a big difference as I prefer to keep the roof vent open.

I am so jealous that you two have a Majestic! They are so hard to find and priced accordingly 😕 I am *trying* to sell my house (no takers yet 😞 ) so need to wait for this to happen before I can seriously look----Anyway, I love your rigs and will hope more come on the market in a few months

I may be a little late on this thread. But just wanted to give my opinion as a owner of a Majestic 19G.
We personally think it's a very convenient size, mainly because we are okay with the bed in the overhead cab. It's decent size, bed is technically queen size (and even larger). The headroom is better than on some other Class C because of the bubble shaped overhead cab.

We've been travelling and sleeping in this RV for the past 80 nights and still feel this is very comfy. We've added a memory foam mattress topper and it helps (I wouldn't advise using the original "mattress").

We've seen the floor plan on bigger Class C's and what they call B+ like "BT Cruisers". To be honest, we definitely prefer our floorplan since we keep the table as a table and the bed as a bed. We also like the single rear wheel, the V8 instead of V10. We fit in a normal parking space, we've parked in cities, parallel parking... We were also able to go any road where there is a 22ft length limit. Plus, we've parked on BLM lands with dirt roads where I probably wouldn't go with a larger rig (rough roads), when you go down steep hills, the portion of vehicle behind the rear wheels is a lot shorter on a 19ft.

But! The Majestic unit might be pretty basic for some. We've added Solar panel, Larger deep cycle battery, 1000w inverter, Maxxfan, backup camera and so on.

I need to see some pictures of the solar, I would love to add some more.

I had the original mattress restuffed and it did not do a lot 😞 so I added a topper that helped. Yes it is great having a bed, I never take mine down and love the fact that it is always ready. I am thinking of a ladder to make it easier to climb up.

Ron,

Everything you have said here has been spot on. I watched on the PC forum of the things you did to improve your PC drivability, some of which I did to my 2400. The jack knife couch/bed in the 2400 gets to be such a drag everyday. Single battery is another downer. We did like you say in going bigger by getting a DP. They are a great ride but they require deep pockets and a vast amount of knowledge and mechanical capabilities, not always capable at 64. We are back to looking very strong at PC because of the owner of PC. Our 2400 was six years out of warranty and during a little trip to the factory to get some things fixed on it I either broke or wanted replaced they discovered another issue in a seam in the floor under the carpet. Three people worked on it for almost four hours and in the end everything was fixed and replaced as I wanted including what they found. It cost me nothing! Nothing for parts. Nothing for labor! NADA! Phoenix Cruiser is a top drawer company in my book. Guess what I am looking at for my next purchase? Of course I am looking at others but PC is very high on my list.
Hi Alan,

You already know how great Phoenix Cruisers are and the company that stands behind them. I hope you find the perfect rig, whether a PC or something else. If you wished Phoenix USA offered a different floor plan, it never hurts to ask if they can make one up special for you. If our garage could handle a PC that is a little longer, I would love to have a rear queen bed across the back wall made like a captain's bed. The front half under the bed full of drawers, the rear half as a pass-thru outdoor storage compartment. If you know me, you know I am not a fan of slide-outs. We love our no-slide dinette and easy chair in our 2350 and would want to maintain those features.

Hi Ron,

While I was out there they told me they could do some customizing of about any unit including equipment or special equipment. They are without a doubt a great company to work with. Good to hear from you again.

Alan
Thanks,
Alan

Ron ... that little Starflyte was a real sweet rig!

What's your take on why U.S. builders no longer offer RV's like this? Why is it we have to go to Europe to find these great compact Class C type RVs?
It seems the industry goes through cycles. Society migrates into the idea of "Bigger Is Better", then cycles back around to "Smaller Is Better".

I really like my brother's Starflyte, but back in 2007, like the Rialta, a used Starflyte was a pile money, not worth buying a used one when I could buy the rig have brand new made special for us. I am glad we have our PC. But the Starflyte today is very affordable because they are now so old.

My brother owns a Starflyte because I educated him about them. He and his wife previously traveled in a make-shift conversion van and wanted something more, but not something so big. He has limited parking of which the Starflyte works just right for them. But he is thinking bigger as of late. He has to tear down his old garage and reconfigure his space for a bigger rig.

Pnichols, that is one sweet rig! No way I could afford even a used one. I am thinking the Coachmen Leprechaun 21 is going to be the one----will be flying out to look at t, etc. as soon as I get an offer on my house.

TY all for the the wonderful information, I really appreciate it!
