Slide out maintenance

I took my RV to the Winnebago rally this summer an had some work done to one of our slides. Some points they made were as follows. We have Powergear electric slides.
1. Do not use rail lubricants (greese, protectall, etc). The slides are engineered to run without them and using them may cause problems. Just keep the rails clean.
2. To reduce the friction on slides, put a good wax on the sides of the slides. The mainenance supervisor suggested this in a seminar while a tech said don't do it.

How do you maintain your slides?

I have hydraulic piston operated with double rail slides

For 8 yrs:

I spray the rails with dry graphite lube..........goes on as a wet film then instantly drys (careful not to spray underside of slide out as the graphite will get onto carpet when retracted)

I spray piston with silicone and wipe down with clean cloth

I dust the seals and wipers with talcum/baby powder (put it in a sock)

Slide out get wash/waxed when rest of 5th gets done.
Is it time for your medication or mine?

Clean as needed but every 6 months and apply dry lube on metal to metal area. Its a 99 model and no issues so far.
