We're looking at possibly purchasing a 2004 Safari Trek, 30', 8.1 workhorse engine, Allison trans, ceiling bed. Any issues or problems anyone is aware of with this particular motorhome?

Go to this website and ask all of the questions that you want about the Trek. This site is where you will want to join if you buy the Trek as they can provide answers to any questions that you might have. Trek Traxs
You have to register but that is no big deal.

If I recall correctly, this brand seems to have a lot of problems with the bed not functioning correctly or needing repair quite often. Other than that, perhaps do a forum search?

You need to make sure the dash LCD display that tells you what gear you are in is working. It's made by Actia and I'm on my third one.

Does it have Bosch brakes and, if so, has the brake recall be done?

The transmission came with Dexron III fluid that had to be changed every 25,000 miles or two years. I'd suggest switching to Transynd.

If the refrigerator is a Norcold 1200 you need to check if the safety recall was done on it.

What year were the tires manufactured? If over 7 years old you may want to replace them.

The 8.1 and Allison 1000 transmission combination is a very strong unit.
