I'm interested in purchasing a Thor Axis and plan to do both short and distance traveling and wondering how well they handle and hold up. All info would be appreciated. Also is buying used an option. I know in body design they haven't changed much, but how about machinal improvements...Thank You

I'd opt for a higher quality used unit. If you're looking for the smaller MH, check out products by Winnebago. Look at units available by Newmar or Tiffin. Thor tends to get ranked at the bottom.

Thor may get ranked at the bottom on RV boards but do you think out selling the competition by a huge amount, hence many more are out there, may have a little bit to do with it?

"Overall retail sales in the motorized segment dipped 2.7% for 2018, according to the latest report from Statistical Surveys Inc. (SSI).

Thor Industries Inc. was the motorized sales leader for the 12 months with a 42.5% market share, ahead of Forest River Inc. (22.5%) and Winnebago Industries Inc. (13.5%).

Class A motorhome sales were down 6% through December as Thor led the segment with a 34.5% market share. Forest River held the No. 2 spot with 15.6% of the market followed by Tiffin Motorhomes Inc. (14.3%), REV Recreation Group (13.2%) and Winnebago (12.5%).

Class C sales showed no gain for the 12 months with Thor owning a 48.4% market share to lead the category. Forest River (27.6%) was No. 2 followed by Winnebago (14.2%)".
Too many geezers, self appointed moderators, experts, and disappearing posts for me. Enjoy. How many times can the same thing be rehashed over and over?

I'd opt for a higher quality used unit. If you're looking for the smaller MH, check out products by Winnebago. Look at units available by Newmar or Tiffin. Thor tends to get ranked at the bottom. Look at a lot of different units by different companies and you can develop an eye for the shortcuts that are taken on the cheaper units. Personally, I'd rather buy better quality used and be able to keep it rather than having to upgrade later.

I remember reading nearly 10 years ago on this site or a similar site a gentleman saying he held the opinion that Thor had as its primary interest getting units out the door. Whether he was right or not, I have no idea. But I never forgot that post.

Your Axis will spend a lot of time, at least initially, sitting at the dealer awaiting repairs. Thor does not make a good product. Do a Thor Axis search here and over at the Thor form. Lots of problems. Beware.
