You can rent a pretty basic MH, usually a C. Used to be a rental shop right across the street from my office. VERY basic. I think the question is really, wouldn't it be nice to be able to lease a Class S $400,000.00 MH for say 2 or 3 years and 15,000 miles a year. Then when you are done, you walk away. I can see where some people might like that as they trade up every couple years anyway. Me, I tend to keep thing a long time. Probably wouldn't pay for me. YMMV

You can rent anything from TT's to Prevosts. You just have to know where to look. It is NOT cheap. A basic Class A will run you about $300/day. A luxury coach is about $1k/day and usually caters to celebs and performers.

Now a "lease" like a long term car lease is a really bad business plan. At the end of the lease due to depreciation, wear and tear the MH would be worth nothing. MH's are so unique and unreliable compared to cars that long term leases make no sense at all in terms of value, maintenance and support. I guess if someone wanted to pay $10-20k a month then it might work but how big is the target market for that business plan?

You absolutely CAN lease a motorhome. It's not cheap and it's not really even what I would consider affordable, but it certainly can be done.
What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.
Can't we all just get along?

My opinion is the best kind of toad is a lightweight Japanese car that has insane reliability. Get one for cheap with many years, don't worry about every ding, and it will tow either 4 down (most standard trans will) or easily on a dolly or trailer.
4 whopping cylinders on Toyota RV's. Talk about great getting good MPG. Also I have a very light foot on the pedal. I followed some MPG advice on Livingpress.com and I now get 22 MPG! Not bad for a home on wheels.

Why not buy a small FWD used car for a toad?

NO, the liability risk would be astronomical.

I think the closest you will come is to rent a front wheel drive car, take all the insurance you can, and tow it on a dolly. don't ask/ don't tell, but read the contract carefully.
