The assertion that tow/haul auto downshifts on grades etc is a real assumption not know what vehicle/trans is being talked about. Considering the more fully integrated features like being asserted are not a thing until the last decade giver take. Especially considering the context of a Class A which may likely be running older more obsolete drivetrain components than comparable light duty trucks of the same year. (Ex: V10 motorhome chassis were produced until a couple years ago, but stopped in the pickups in 2010 I believe.)
Sometimes the advice is as ill informed as the question.
Like many questions here, ALOT can be learned by simply โtryingโ the feature and even more by actually reading the owners manual or an owners manual for a vehicle with the same trans.
THEN, after having just a small bit of basic experience, one can ask a slightly more informed question, if a question about the most basic operational parameters of a simple vehicle still exist.
