used Cruise America 19'

Hey all, I'm considering a 2011 Majestic 19' on a Ford E350. I believe it has a 5.4 in it. The thing that gives me pause is 160K miles. It appears nicely kept, but I have only walked around the outside. I have an appt tomorrow morning to check it out. The guy that owns it now bought it used from the crusie america fleet.

The coach systems, I'm not worried about. I'm up to speed on all that. I'm more concerned with any specifics to look at regarding the "truck" part of it.

Comments would be appreciated. Thanks.

This will almost certainly not be able to tow your trailer while staying within the hitch and vehicle limits. The hitch is probably rated for at most 5000 pounds and 500 pounds of tongue weight, and either of those could very easily be less.

Yes, I'm afraid you may be right about the vehicle limits especially. First thing I'm going to do is look at the door stickers. Since it's SRW, I'm afraid it's already close to the limits.

The delamination should cut the price substantially. Very difficult to fix so will probably just have to be left alone. People do not like how that looks so impacts the value a lot.

Thanks for comments fellas. I'm not sure on the specific equipment yet as I've only had a brief walk-around the outside. Meeting the seller tomorrow AM to go over it. I did notice a small area of de-lam below the dinette area window on the streetside, which of course is concerning.

The plan would be to use this primarily as a tow vehicle/ weekend camper for my small horse trailer. Trailer weight is about 5300 loaded for a show.
Probably won't get more than three or four thousand miles/year, as this will be mostly local shows under 300 miles from home.

I have on my list of things to check, the rear axle weight rating, etc. Being SRW, that may be a deal killer for me there as I have about 750 pounds of tongue weight to deal with.

5.4 good strong engine. That model in demand...so price is probably up. Nice unit. Ask yourself how many miles you planning on per year? I have model that ca pushed out to make room for 19 model. We put on about 6k a year. And have money if it needs repowered. 250k miles or so is what i planned on for life span of engine. Many get lots more. CA changes engine oil per book. Unit hasnt sat around rotting in place. Had outs 8 years...front end work. Brakes couple coil over plugs and had to pull injectors and clean them thanks to sea foam. Doing work myself probably 3k in parts since 2008 includes tires. Leaves driveway l ittle over 12000 pounds. 5.4 hums along but would like more power.

Drive trains on modern vehicles should reach and exceed 200,00 miles without significant problems.

That's a lot of miles on a +-7 year old motor home (Ford E350) with a V-8. I would much prefer having the larger V-10 engine/transmission since all those miles work the drive train pretty hard. At this point it's all about condition, maintenance, and past use.

Does it have an on board generator and/or rooftop AC ? Often the Cruise America rigs are a little light on what are considered normally standard conveniences.
