Water Leak in Battery compartment

I have a water leak in the battery compartment. I cant' find where it is coming from no indication it is coming from the top of the compartment. I have one battery that uses a lot of water (or leaking it one of the two) I just cleaned it up will check after the next rain to see. How can I tell if the water came out of the battery, the batteries are 6 years old the panel inside is reading 13.64 volts I don't have the proper equipment to check them correctly. They are a Interstate battery store close will check with them later.

Thanks

The problem with the baking soda test is that odds of it reacting approach 100% no matter where the liquid is coming from..

However with Rain it will be a mild reaction, if it's battery fluid (Acid) it will be a STRONG reaction.. But there is going to be acid salt atop the battery unless you just cleaned it.

SO.. Clean and de-acidify it (With baking soda followed by a major rinse) and then wait for it,, NOTE the activity of the soda on the first clean, and then when it's wet soda it again,, Same reaction, Acid, Weak reaction or no reaction, Rain.

Batteries are waterproof by the way.. At least as far as rain fall is concerned, They do not like submersion but so long as the water can drain away you can turn a garden hose on 'em and no damage will happen.
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

You can use a sprinkling of the baking soda around the compartment which will show you the source/entry point of the leak.

I'd put a dry paper towel in there and check it every half hour. It seems obvious it is a leaking battery. At 6 they're ready to be replaced anyway.

Are you are talking about could it be battery acid leaking? Put baking soda on it. See what happens
