Where is run capacitor for my roof top AC

After help from viewers I do think must be the run capacitor for fan, do I have to take shroud off roof top unit to get to capacitor or can it be reached from inside? Thanks

If you get your A/C model number, PPL Parts has a great breakdown of the various A/C units and shows part and photos for particular models. You can order the capacitors from their website. They're also great to buy parts from and ship quickly.

If you where to click on the link above, you will see several pictures, including the removal of the 4 screws to open the top of the A/C unit on your roof.

Here is a picture of the two capacitors. The smaller silver one is attached to the indoor fan motor.



The larger silver capacitor is the run capacitor for the compressor.

The run capacitor is the smaller of the two but you need to ground out both capacitors before touching the wires. I use a long screwdriver from the sheet metal to the wires on the top of both capacitors.
This post is my opinion (free advice). It is not intended to influence anyone's judgment nor do I advocate anyone do what I propose.
