Windy today

Got the MH out for a test drive today with the Explorer toad. Very windy today, the MH was all over the road. Plenty of power and stability was good when I was flanked by a row of trees. Love the Blue Ox True Center! Made driving in the wind a bit more bare able. My X and 35ft TT was much more stable, but from reading the F53 is a chore to control on the road! Out first trip is about 3 weeks! Can’t wait!

Did that before we bought.
The RV we purchased ended up having (6) 2 year old Michelin tires. Replacement front and rear Hellwig sway bars along with the CHF on the stock rear bar (it has 2 rear sway bars). And the Blue Ox True Center. The cross winds are the worst. Everything else is perfect!

Yep, I did pretty much the same on my National SeaBreeze. Now, the handling is great, and Semi's don't push me around. However, crosswinds still stink. In my current campground I've spoken to about 6 DP owners, and they have all said the same thing - they too have handling issues with crosswinds. Not as bad as me, but issues none-the-less. So my thinking is it's the nature of the beast and it is what it is....

Yes that is my thinking also. I just need more seat time.
I`ve towed with X and 35ft TT in high crosswinds and it was not like this! So With time I`m sure Ill adjust. I also think I may be doing more steering input than I need. I found myself overcorrecting on my test drive. towards the end I was doing less input and it was getting better.

Wind conditions are hard to predict. Local conditions have a lot of effect on crosswinds, gusts, venturi effect, etc. Don't rely on weather predictions.

Excellent site for wind predictions. Can search by location, day and even day part.

I too like the Tru-Center in a crosswind.

Worst wind I ever drove in was (Thanfully) Comign from Dead Astern..

How bad was it.. Well at the time there was chatter on the net about the 14MPG motor home.. My 38' Class A gasser.. well 13.8 (Close enough) that's how bad the tail wind was Tumble weeds goign STRAIGHT down the road.. This continued till I had to pull off for the night.> That was NOT fun (IT became a cross wind on the cross road) NOAA said 100mph.
Home was where I park it. but alas the.

With the guys I travel with, windy weather makes it hard to hear. Conversations sometimes go like this:
"It's windy today."
"No I think it is Thursday."
"Me too, let's go have a beer."

right now they are at 85 all around. I need to weigh it hopefully on our first trip I can run it across the scales. It does just fine with no wind. Originally the toe was 5/8" out and wandered all over the lane. I reset it to 1/4" in. made a dramatic improvement and tracked straight. So I hope there will be no wind in a few weeks when we go to River Ridge Resort in Stanton MI.

What are your tire pressures set at?

Over inflated tires will cause handling problems.

I once owned a F53 that was 37 feet long and handled the wind just fine. It was heavy and only got 5.5 mpg (on a good day) but wind was never an issue. Sometimes, I miss that coach.
