Hi, I had a few rocks in my windshield in the past year, lately a big smash that left a 1 inch bullseye. Where I come from, they put gravel on roads in winter and I had 3 rocks in two days, cannot afford to replace windshield every year.

Have someone tried ClearPlex protection film to prevent rock damage or is there something else that could be used?

Thanks

Ok, I got a price for the stuff. It is $25 a foot. It comes in 36 inch roll. If you install it on a MH windshield, it will only cover part of it, or you can have a joint. I have a friend that install automobile wrap and he could install it no problem, the principle is the same as a car bra.

As per my experience, rocks does not hit very high, so far it only hit between the bottom portion and 3/4 up the windshield and only one on the passenger side. I received most on them from incomming trucks or when a truck passes me on the left.

Do a google search. There are some "hotrod" people, pros and semi-pros, that use it. Most what I read was that it is very good if installed correctly or very bad if not installed correctly.

I'm curious, too, about any protective film being an option. Had a cracked driver's windshield last year (bullseye spider crack), and the other side cracked this year (linear). I've heard many a rock hit the windshield and there were small pits, but neither time heard a rock hit before noticing the cracks. Old pits expanding?

I have full glass coverage with no deductible so that's not an issue; it's just time related to getting things repaired and then wondering when the next rock will hit. Would be nice to have something help prevent future occurrences if possible.

I looked at their website and didn't see any mention of RV's, just cars.

I've been on several RV forums for about 10 years and don't recall anybody mentioning that product or any other for protecting the windshield.

I replaced one windshield and had several repairs done on small chips so I'd sure be interested too.

If your policy has comprehensive for glass you will be covered. Deductibles are calculated on your premium. It is a choice when you start your policy, comprehensive with low or no deductible is more expensive, higher deductibles mean lower cost.
I would be very reluctant to put anything on my windshield, distortion, glare etc would be a concearn.
Bottom line you will get a broken windshield, it's a matter of how bad, and how long you can stand it.
I am a firm believer in windshield repair. Fix those little ones before they get big.

In my experience, most policies have glass protection available with no deductible.......I took a rock in the windshield on my DP, called Progressive, repaired or replaced with no deductible.....

Have you checked with your insurance company? I dunno about in Canada, but in many/most/all of the US, insurance companies routinely replace windshields with no deductible on the theory that they want you to be able to see where the H*** you are going so you can avoid hitting, um, expensive things. Can't hurt to inquire.
Not in Georgia. I have replaced two out of pocket over the years. It was cheaper than my $1000 deductible.

Yes, I have a $500 deductible and it will increase my insurance the next year. I do not mind to have it replaced, it is just that if I do, I want to protect it. I was quote around $1200 for one side, in Can $ it comes up to $1650 right now.

ClearPlex is sold for Vehicle windshield, it is just a film, like a car wrap.

In the US there are laws about putting things on windshields. You probably have those in Canada also.
