Hardwood cooking chunks

Went to buy Oak cooking chunks for the smoker and none found
Plenty of other flavors.
Wally World, Home depot and Lowe`s.
None had an answer why they are not available this year. Anybody know?

I second the ACE hardware recommendation. It is also the only place I'm finding pecan.

I used to have oak by the cord and grilled with it quite a bit. Now days I use hickory or mesquite for flavor in my gas BBQ and they add great taste. Its all good :C

Ace Hardware in my area used to sell oak chunks....haven't shopped for chunks since I switched to a gas smoker.

Probably the normal disconnect between customers and suppliers. I would imagine much of it comes from waste in barrel stave manufacturing and it's still going strong. I'm sure someone will disagree, but I have a hard time telling the difference between oak and hickory.

I don't think I have ever seen Oak chunks for sale (other than firewood).
We get Hickory, mesquite or Applewood in FL. I have used oak from my wood pile before. Apple is my favorite.
