I recently installed CCleaner on my older Toshiba laptop, running WinXP.and now when I open the program the computer shuts off and restarts. I've tried uninstalling and re-installing the program to no avail. I've also checked for malware, but found none. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

You could try a System Restore to a point prior to installing CCleaner.

I also turn off the real time monitoring and just run it when I want. I have never had an issue with it on over a dozen computers, one of which is xp likes yours.

I don't particularly care for CCleaner real time feature, and turn it off. This may be the issue. But, nonetheless, have found CCleaner to be a handy one stop cleaning utility.
