Can I get an hd receiver from on my home account from direct tv or ? and can I view nfl sunday ticket will camping?? I know if I go more than 100 mi or soo I will loose my local channels that's ok. Do I need to carry the same size swm dish I have at home?? Or should I just get a tailgater and dish pay as you go...more confused

Soo based on what I read here bill and ivydog A small 18 x 22 dish with a sl3 LNB will work to get hd sats. I should be able to get an additional hd receiver... from direct tv without to much trouble and monthly cash..I don't need a genie but I did read somewhere that you have to have the same receiver 1-hr-34-700 as the stick house?? Am I on the right track...Thanks

You need to add an additional receiver to your existing account and DirecTV will not let you add a 2nd Genie as it will not work with your current antenna (to many tuners for the LNB to support). You can add an HR24 dual tuner DVR and you will be able to use that in the RV.

Thanks that's what I needed to know...will call direct tv today to start process. Thanks again

What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.

You are a wizard, thanks for linking my posts. OP you do not have to get the exact same receiver from DirecTV. A smart phone satellite app will let you see where the three satellites are and if anything is blocking your view of them making it much easier to set up a portable tripod dish. Using a level to make sure the pipe for the dish is perfectly upright will make getting all three satellites easy by just peaking 101.

google search of sites for shortening links

Shorten URL links

same link shorten using googles "goo.gl"

https://goo.gl/U3xwhP

think i'll book bark this and use it to get around the stupid percent sign error
paste the link you have into the box, click the shorten button
and get a tiny link that works

Yes, you can get an additional HD receiver if you have only 1 Genie at home and some clients. This would allow up to 7 channel recording at home and allow you to take everything, including NFL Sunday Ticket on the road.

Dish Network does not have NFL Sunday Ticket so knowing your priorities is important here.

You DO NOT need a big dish to take a standard DVR along. The DVR would work just fine with a dome style auto pointing antenna or a small 18" round open face antenna. However!!!! You will not receive any HD programming but you will be able to watch everything you have previously recorded in HD. Again, your priorities are important here.

If you want HD on the road then you do need an open face antenna with an SL3 LNB (SWM or not but I would highly recommend SWM).

In CA you DO NOT need your large dish to get HD. Here are three of my post on how to with a 18x22 multi sat dish. This frigging site will not post anything with a percent sign in it so you will have to do a search for sl3 by Ivylog. :M

This dish will go on a small tripod and is much smaller/easier to store. A Sl3 LNB will bolt right on and this dish has the tilt you need to get 99/101/103. I have only been using this dish for 5-6 years to get HD.

SL3 less than $16 on Ebay..

I know I was just trying to keep it the same as I have at home. Like the channels I have and nfl sunday ticket {in a few months}

With my old hd receiver and dish in my "sold" lance camper it was easy Now new home dvr and 5th wheel,,, Trying to keep it simple....
