Dish Hopper with Single LNB Dish

I want to setup a single dish with 1 LNB to get only the 72.7 sat. I want the HD channels. Not add an extra dish to a 1K series dish. A single round dish with 1 LNB connected directly to the Hopper.

What are my choices for LNB? Do I need to use a Node or just run direct to the Hopper.
Any other issues with doing this?

Thanx

just a side note to find 72.7 I use the point dish screen, select dish 300, and select sat 61.5 for coordinates then go about 5 degrees higher and about 5 degrees over torward the west

you will need a dish pro plus lnb,if you just use a dish 500,set the skew at 90 degrees(no skew angle)hook up one lnb and your good to go,I've been doing this for a couple of years now,you will receive all your hd channels, pay per view and sirious radio also be able to dvr different channels, only thing you will miss is locals which are pretty much on sat 61.5
Thanx I will give it a try.

So what LNB would I need to try it? Dish Pro, Dish Pro Plus?

OK, you said single LNB. If you get a Dish Pro Plus 1000.2 or 1000.4 LNB then you can run that to a Solo Node and one cable from the Node to the Hopper and have full use just as a home user would.
What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.

The reason I thought there was hope with a Dish LNB was while trying to find the elusive 72 sat in manual mode with my Travlr DTV unit, I connected a Hopper without a node to use as a signal meter. To my surprise when I found the 72 sat I got quite a few of the Dish HD channels. Of course it would not change transponders on that sat or the 61 with a DTV LNB.

That would be an interesting question to ask on the SatelliteGuys Dish Forum. There are a number of very knowledgeable Dish satellite users there, as well as Dish employees assigned to the Dish Internet Response Team (DIRT). Let us know what they suggest.
I did try on there but did not get a response yet. I thought here would be the next best to try. ๐Ÿ™‚

If it works at all, you would need go run both LNB outputs to a Solo Node. I highly doubt you will be able to watch/record 3 channels at the same time but it would be an interesting experiment.
Let us know how it goes.
