Question about Hawkshead Tire Monitoring system

Our charger went belly up and the fuse keeps blowing. When I dismantled it, I could see that it is repairable. In reading the manual, it says the monitor operates on 3 volts DC. On the portion of the charging cord that plugs into the 12 volt lighter it reads "input 12-30VCD output: 5VCD. When I looked in the manual, it specifically reads that the monitor operates on 3 volts DC. My friend and a different brand cord that is labeled identically with the same output. Would I be safe in borrowing it? Thanks for any help. By the way,I am not where I can purchase a new one or get it delivered right away.

It will be safe. They generally charge at 5 vdc. As long as the + and - are the same on the output cord that goes to the monitor
