ok so the winegard as2003 was working here at the house (tn) before mom left to go to Il, i hooked up her direct tv box and turn it on and it searched and found the satellite and locked on.... so i shut it off and parked the dish, NOW the first night she stopped in a walmart parking lot in southern indiana (not a tree in sight) and the dish wount pick up a signal at all, she let it run for 20 min and all it did was scan and scan but no signal. so she gave up, when she got to Illinois and set up at the campground she had a perfect spot with a big open view of the south west sky and it still wont pick up a signal it just runs and runs ๐Ÿ˜ž she shut it off and started over the next day and still nothing.... nothing was unhooked after i set it up here and it worked, all we did was park the dish and power down everything, anybody have any ideas what might be wrong???? i called direct tv and as soon as the found out it was a wineguard dish they instantly said it was the dish problem call them ๐Ÿ˜ž nothing like passing the buck....

thanks for any help....

The AS-2003 is an older, discontinued and unsupported Winegard antenna. That doesn't mean give up, but there might not be much that can be done if you can't get it working on your own.
1) What kind of receiver are you using?
2) Before you attempt another search you need to power up the receiver, turn on the TV and go into the recevier setup menu and ensure the antenna type is set to 18" round and the switch type is set to Multi Switch. Now go to Signal Strength and then Signal Meter. Leave this on and ensure it shows satellite 101 and transponder #1. Now turn on the antenna and see if it will lock or if you at least see some signal strength show up. If it does lock then click the Continue button on the receiver menu and keep clicking Continue until you get to the end of the setup and are watching TV.
Let me know what you find.

thank you for the reply

What I post is my 2 cents and nothing more. Please don't read anything into my post that's not there. If you disagree, that's OK.
Can't we all just get along?

Are you positive about that model number?
Dead LNB would be my first guess. These things go through a set set of scans looking for a signal. If they do not find it they are suppose to shut down and park after XX minutes. IF it keeps scanning that sort of means that it is not finding a signal, dead LNB or coax. Second guess is a bad control board. But we wont go there just yet.

thanks not sure it worked here the morning she left and 6 hours later it wouldnt work ๐Ÿ˜ž

I'm assuming you have walked her through the steps. You set it up at home but was there something you did that maybe she isn't doing ?

Like inputting the correct zip code in the receiver ?

didnt have to do any of that here just hit the sat button and let it run. it has a built in GPS to figure out where it is, there big bus was the same way they just pluged in the box and left they never had to do anything but turn it on and wait.... thanks
