Suggestions, software for laptop mapping and GPS--solved

Since S&T's is no more, I'm looking for program to plan route on laptop(still use GPS receiver), and be able to export route to Garmin. Don't find much with search. One I did find that sounded good was Garmin Mobile PC, but it seems to be discontinued.

Jim

Downloaded CoPilot software for platform, downloaded maps I wanted,$20. Obtained BU-354 GPS receiver, $30. Created first route to try it out, works as it should. Quite different from S&T's, but has many of the same features. Thanks to all who responded.

I still program and can tell you nothing's changed.
New syntax, new keywords - but it's still "IF () THEN () ELSE".
That - and it's diet cola now. ๐Ÿ™‚

The device I am inquiring about is software for laptop. My truck has a Jotto Desk that laptop is mounted on.

I don't recommend using an iPad since the WiFi only versions do not have built in GPS chips. IMHO this is a huge shortcoming. Most all Android tablets have built in GPS and memory expansion slots....

No person is completely worthless ... one can always serve as a bad example.

I've been using Delorme Street Atlas +gps even before the dashboard GPS units show up on the market.
Kept buying new Plus version every few years and do have 2015 SA, what seem to be discontinued and Delorme is part of Garmlin now.
I did like Plus version as in case of flat tire, without internet I was able to find tire shop on my route and call them for availability.
I would contact Garmlin with question what is their policy on computer software.
Finding used 2015 SA is another option.
Even with factory GPS in my vehicles, I like to recheck the route on computer as often programs do have preferences that don't make sense.
Very often I am under impression that software programmers are heavy substance abusers.

It's now called Garmin Bases Camp.
A bit of a learning curve but it does work well.

There are many tutorials and YouTube videos.

There are a few great offline mapping programs for tablets like iPAd and Android. I'm an Android user and have both CoPilot, and Sygic on my Galaxy Tab S2. All maps fit on the device and once loaded can be used without an internet connection. Both work well with internal or connected GPS devices through bluetooth or WiFi. Both have adequate trip planning capabilities and include thousands of waypoints and also allow adding your own.

So far, there does not appear to be any replacement for S&T. Looks like that is a thing of the past. Mapping programs load up a log of data on a computer storage, the new tablets and such are much more limited in that respect, and many do not have CD drives to download that much data. AT one time, you had to have the disk in the drive to use S&T.
